We live in the Smoky Mtns. and will be driving to the beach on the East Coast to be with family on Christmas, leaving 12/21/12 in the afternoon. All I keep thinking of is that final scene from "Take Shelter"...last place I want to be is on a beach on the East Coast on THAT notorious day! But my family and I trust God to protect us so I refuse to live in fear. Enjoy your family, OP! I plan to do the same!

I'm getting a visual of that scene from "2012"...lol as if a jet can "breath" all the ash from volcanos. It would drop like a rock....but theres always hope. Plane tix were cheaper though....maybe thats why.

On the brighter side... I'm really looking forward to this. 3000 miles for a hillbilly holiday! this is my stomping ground and I've felt soooo out of place since moving to the Pacific NorthWest. We are going to do all the hokey stuff too. dollywood, the Lumberjack show, Ripleys....everthang! lol

I love the Smoky Mt's, Gatlinberg, Pigeon Forge! I was there a couple months ago for a couple of months, ha. And I've lived in the PNW for 24 yrs (all my life), it ain't bad once you get to know it a little :)

Your flight will be safe, I'm sure. The gods of doom won't be overly concerned with a flight into Knoxville.

The tilting bridge at Ripley's blew my mind. I had to go over it a couple times until it was mastered.

It would be strange to take off then witness the world falling apart below you. Then not having a place to land would be a buzz kill...try Denver Airport.

Or you know, an EMP will hit and your plane will fly out of the sky.

If that guy had stuck to his guns he would have been ok. But he was convinced by the "normals" that he was nuts and died with them.

It is my plan to stay put and well set up and hope for the best. I moved to the Idaho Mountains years ago after a scary dream about water. I had the dream almost every night for months before I finally just got up and moved. Never had that dream again.

I wouldn't worry about the 21st. But from here on out, I won't be doing any traveling unless it's to relocate to the mountains. They've got all the pieces in place for martial law. I wouldn't want to be stranded thousands of miles from home.

I generally never do anything that I have a genuine bad feeling about though anyways, as a rule. Like I said, go with your gut instincts and what things 'seem' and 'feel' like when the time rolls around.

I always worry about "martial law" however... even though we do not LIVE in the SE right this minute... it is home for us so if something were to happen I'd rather be there with myloved ones.

Ya know, I never do anything I feel truly bad about either, but, this kind of has a "meant" feel....perhaps something WILL happen. I find it odd that I just randomly booked a flight then without thinking about the date in advance. hmmmmmm. I will keep in touch if able while there....it's my guilty pleasure....GLP. :)

Nahhh. It'll be fine.....unban everyone and leave the whole place wide open.
