America will never be united

All I hear, read, and see everywhere from the Obama followers is the equivalent of, "Haha! We won, you lost! Nanny nanny poo poo!" Do you really think the Rs want to hear that? Do you think they'll start seeing things your way by rubbing their noses in it?

You have the power for the moment, and rather than try to swing some of 48% of the country your way, instead you choose to gloat, to laugh at their genuine distress over the results. (And yeah, yeah... go ahead and say that Rs would do the same thing if Mitt won. Well, he didn't, so it doesn't matter.)

The liberals have an opportunity right now to put their metaphorical arm around the shoulder of those who are disappointed right now, to say, "It's okay. We'll work with you." As long as each side keeps sticking their tongues out at each other, we will be forever divided. Try explaining your positions like empathetic, mature adults and just maybe you might actually help bring America together again instead of further alienating those who are genuinely upset right now.

There are core values on each side that will likely never change, but it doesn't need to be so toxic the way it is now. People are capable of disagreeing politely, but since all the Obama faithful seem to want to do is point and laugh, congratulations on driving an even further wedge between the two sides.
