And it doesn’t end there: you begin thinking about all the people you find insufferable, until finally you feel as if you are drowning. To allow things to get to this point is not very intelligent, but what can you do? You can call on your intellect and ask whether this vexation or this offence merits all the trouble you have taken over it. If your intellect is honest, it will often have to answer ‘no’. And thus, little by little, you will break up this heavy and dark matter which has threatened to suffocate you. " |
