We had many cats when I was young and it was not very unusual for the males to dissappear for several days every so often. Cats have the ability to range for far distances and they also have a keen sense of being able to find their way home. They come "home" when they are ready. It is possible that someone else has adopted Oliver in the same way that you did 7 months ago. If so, he has a nice new home. If not, you should see him show up again in the next few days. I hope he comes home to you soon. I am sure these past few days with him gone have been very difficult, but do not give up hope. |

He would go far causing chaos in his path, lol. All I would do is whistle loud at night and call his name, and he would return within 30 minutes. It was very consistent, always came back. So I wish the best of luck to you... |

The saddest thing is to see him out there whistling for him now, knowing that nothing will probably happen. |

I nursed him back to health and he became a loyal little companion. he will more than likely be back. the toms especially un neutered will roam sometimes for days if not longer and then make their way back to their safe house. he's no dummy and many times you'll find out that you're one of 2 or 3 homes helpin him out. we're dealing with an un neutered 20+ pound grey/white tuxedo lookin kitty we call Chunkcat that showed up 4 yrs ago. he would be gone up to 2 weeks or longer at a time and we would think he was just gone or maybe had been killed, but he would show back up all raggedy and/or injured and let us heal him up again. most times he's a cuddly angel, but if he feels he's been crossed would just as soon shred some skin or give you some fang reminders of who's the boss in your hands. he seems to have slowed down a bit the past 4 months and hasn't wandered since last june. we're not sure of his age and wandering toms without human help are lucky to have a lifespan of 3-5 yrs. about 2 and a half yrs ago we also had a himalayan lookin female kitty show up with no front claws and hasn't wandered any place but the backyard since. even other people's cats like our house better than their own. handi-capped and injured cats and birds seem to find me whether at home or work and i'll help them all the best i can. i have the word sucker on my forhead that the critters see and unfortunately some humans too. your kitty may not come back, but you did the right thing by helpin him out at the time. be patient...he's just a busy wanderin man. |

Grab a clay pot (has to be clay/earth material, not metal). At 9pm take the pot to a quiet spot in your house (like the spot he liked the most) open the lid, stick your head in and call his name 3 times...then close the lid and leave the pot there... repeat the same for 9 nights... the secret is to do it with faith and visualizing that Oliver is back... I haven't tried (thank goodness!) but give it a try and let us know. Remember to send good healing energy to the kitty so he's safe and finds a way back home... Best wishes to you and Oliver. >^..^< |
Anonymous Coward 11/03/2012 05:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | These types of kitties usually are wanderers and free spirits... they smile upon you and then they may stay for a long time, or eventually move along to the next. It's hard to tell what a kitty will do. If you don't live in the country, the odds are a little smaller that he was attacked. Since you live around neighbors, etc., someone could have taken him into their home, or taken them home with them wherever they lived thinking he was a stray. You just never know. |

He always comes back after a few days. My mom call them his adventures. She doesn't let him out, but he is a sneaky little guy and can slip right out the door when you least expect it. Don't throw in the towel just yet,its only been a couple of days. I will put some good thoughts your way that your little Oliver returns safely to you soon! Anonymous Coward User ID: 18647453 Canada 11/03/2012 06:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I know there are all kinds of big, tragic happenings in the world right now, and I don't want to make this sound as if my little personal tragedy is as important as any of that. But I am heartbroken over this and was hoping that if anyone "saw" anything, maybe psychically or whatever, it would help me. Quoting: oh_yikes We rescued an adorable black and white tuxedo kitty last year, and he quickly became such a bright spot in our lives. He was so friendly and smart, and he came running when you called him. He would tug on my leg when he wanted a treat or to be let out...it was the sweetest thing. He was an outdoor cat, which we understood came with risks, but he was so unhappy when we kept him confined inside, so eventually we started letting him outside. For 7 months we had a routine of when he went out and then showed up at our door to be let back in. But on Thursday Nov. 1 he never showed up at the door, and I haven't seen him since. Calls to animal control, neighborhood flyers, postings on Craigslist, and hours of wandering the neighborhood have turned up nothing. I am having trouble eating or sleeping, and cannot seem to walk past his food dish or toys without feeling a wave of sadness pass over me. I don't know if he was attacked by a predator, or taken in by a neighbor. Not knowing if he is dead or alive is adding to the anguish. Is there anyone out there who can take a little break from the serious doom and say a little prayer for my kitty, Oliver? Or maybe if they are psychic and get any kind of impression, they can let me know? Thank you in advance. I've had a few cats in my life. They almost always come back so don't fret. |

Praying while I was driving with tears streaming down my cheeks I would ride up to the humane society every 3 days and see if she was up there .... at first I was angry with God for allowing this to happen but eventually I prayed and I told him that I knew that he allowed it to happen for a reason that was beyond my comprehension I started to get a tiny bit of peace about it after 2 months and I decided to an adopt a kitten from the humane society because my other cat " honey bunnies" was acting lathargic and depressed since her playmate was gone I went an adopted a 6 week year old kitten ...I named her " baby girl" and soon I realize how much of a blessing God had turned my grief into I know some people will make fun of me and call me gross but I am a animal lover.....his kitten would come and lay with me and give me kisses ...and when I say kisses ...I mean French kisses ..like a pet dog would do...I had never seen this or even heard of a cat doing something like this....only dogs she is the sweetest cat ever and even now she still comes up to me a purrs ....lays down on my chest and gives me affectionate kisses As much as it hurt and sometimes it still hurts when I think about my smitty bittys being gone.....I never would of gotten a new kitten if she never ran away....and as much as I lived the previous cat....my new cat is way more affectionate and loving .... sometimes hope can spring out of the darkness mourning is a natural process ..... This is ok and normal ....infact there is something wrong if you don't ....just don't getstuck there here's aliitle word of advice too..... when I got my new kitten I immediately went to the pet store and bought two collars with pendants that were inscribed with their names ...and my phone number incase hey ever ran away .... at firstbtheybhated the collars but now they are fine with it .... my two cats are females and I like to honk that they enjoy wearing them because they thik they are accessories =) I will say a prayer for you Last Edited by Simple_Man on 11/03/2012 06:26 PM |
