Past Lives/Memories
Anyone have memories of past lives? Occasionally images will flash in my head of another time...or other times. It is usually triggered by certain people or places. It is normally just flashes, nothing significant. Recently though, it happens nonstop whenever I talk to or see this person that I have just met, or not even met, just met online in various political groups that I am in. It is weird. I almost always see him in a totally different time and not just flashes, that is just how I see him. It is pretty overwhelming & strange.

Re: Past Lives/Memories
Yeah, I just saw 2 more last night in images that came to me as I was reading my book.

I get images all the time lately of past lives, and I know that they are past lives because of the feelings they come with.

Last night, I saw a wooded area...in the woods, although in a clearing, there is a mountain and arches that line this mountain front...like someone carved them there.

Beautiful place. Just don't know where it is. I know that is was like a bank. People went there to bury their stuff, and eveyone knew it was not to be touched. I don't know if there is a place like that known in history, but that's what I saw.

That is awesome. That's how I feel too. The feelings are overwhelming and this is the most constant it has ever been for me. I want to tell this guy the images I see when talking to him, but I'm pretty sure it would freak him out, lol.

Ever read about Lewis & Clark?

The area they traveled was very wooded and there were lots of mountains along the way. The arches you speak of could be caused by a combination of water and glaciers or they could be ancient lava tubes.

When people bury stuff like you describe they call it a cache. People know not to touch it because that is their supplies and potentially their only means of survival on the return trip. Could also be a burial ground or an allusion to that.

Edit to answer the main question of the thread.

Yes, I've had vivid dreams. Some, when I woke, I felt that I had been living an event that happened to me in a different life or it was possibly an event yet to occur in this life.

Could just be dreams created by a very imaginative mind too.

I'm not sure what to think of dreams and the interpretation of them. I have an open mind though and think that anything is possible.

Re: Past Lives/Memories
Just as an aside we might want to go beyond the public eye. I've got a gmail if you want. otherwise-

The first memory -

I belonged to a family group living in what is now northern Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan. Our spiritual leader selected me to have my vision quest. We went to a place that had been used for them for many ages, what is now known as Copper Falls State Park near Mellon, Wisconsin.

At this place I was instructed to sit on a cliff promontory that stuck out over the river. There were two such promontories, one on the north side, one on the south. The one on the north was for elder, more exerienced people, so it was on the south that I was to sit. I was given a pipe and some tobacco (kinickinic, actually) and nothing else. I was to smoke that pipe as often as felt right. I sat there for fifteen days and did in fact have a vision. I didn't know it but I was brought down from there to an area nearby at the bottom of the falls where all the gathered spiritual leaders of the day awaited, and subsequently heard, the telling of my vision. I didn't become aware of what was going on until I had told them of that vision and they were already departing.

I still remember that vision. It was of this time and I saw many things that, at the time, I didn't understand correctly but thought of them as evil. There were skyscrapers, trains, planes, trucks, cars, smog, misuse of the earth in all ways possible. When I came out of the sort of trance I was in I was seriously upset and I asked the spiritual learder from my familial group how we were to stop this future from happening. He said, "It is the way it must be."

I didn't question this but was apprehensive about the whole affair as I left the sacred grounds.

I'm thinking 8,000 - 10,000 years ago. Some of the other related memories have animals in them that have been extinct for about that long.

Yes, they are memories. I've had them since I was born, and even before, since I can actually remember the time between. They are seldom connected directly, but I just know they are, and I know the sequence for them.

Anyone have memories of past lives? Occasionally images will flash in my head of another time...or other times. It is usually triggered by certain people or places. It is normally just flashes, nothing significant. Yes but one has always think about the possibillity that we humans living in a human collective where you pick up experiences from other people in other times thinking they are your past lives.
Had enough of them but I am always careful to say they are past lives. Could be could not be and I don't give it any attention. It is not relevant, I live now.

Yep, I know what you mean, and it makes sense to me. The past life memories that I have though, it is like I am reliving them...not like I am watching them on TV, or whatever.

Also, in my opinion, it is sometimes relevant if we are trying to work out past like karma. I also sometimes want to tell someone if I see them in a way different than they are now...as creepy as that sounds.

Indigo -

If you could tear yourself away from the here-and-now, sort of meditate, but not really, and concetrate on those snippets you have, you may be able to expand those memories a bit. Flashes of memory are tough to get hold of, but understanding the fact that significant events are most readily retained and brought back can help.

For instance, the afore-mentioned memory was when I was about 12-13 years old. I know things happened before that but I have a hard time viewing it. It's foggy and uncertain, and all I have are vague senses of the reality of them. When I concentrate on them I can sometimes hold a single moment aloft in my attention long enough (or over and over enough) to get a glimpse of what was happening. I remember traveling, a lot, both being carried and walking or running. I get glimpses of pathways in the forest, rivers and streams, hills and rocks. I can sometimes feel the cold or the heat on my face. I see people, mostly misty forms, but some more vivid than others.

I'm not sure why I was gifted with these memories, nor what I'm supposed to do with them, but I know they are real and true and I have a resonsibility to take care of them and see they are treated with respect. The "who" that I am as a spirit has not only been here before, but I have experienced something significant that was given to me for a purpose. I am serchiing for that purpose.

Yep, I have to work on that. Time, silence, and solitude are hard to come by in my world.

I feel that sort of things in these memories as well...some are in sort of a desert-like place, I guess. I just know there is sand and it is really hot. Others, in the woods.

Good luck :)

Re: Past Lives/Memories
O.K. - next installment -

This was, as I have found it to be in this life, along the Ice Age Trail some twenty miles or so southeast of Ladysmith, Wisconsin. In that day I was a runner, messenger for the different groups of my people, going from, perhaps, Minnesota to Michigan. I do remember being in the Porcupine Mountains and somewhat further east, but not further west, except vaguely, than this place, which was along a creek some 10/12 feet across. It was winter and there was a couple of feet of snow on the ground, the creek frozen solid. I was with an old lady, whom I believe I was taking to another group northeast of where we were, and a young girl, teenage, which was close to my age at the time.

We had lost the trail and were worried about whether it was north of our position or south of it. I said south and, as I was the experienced guide among us, I expected to be listened to. The girl argued that it was north and wouldn't listen to me. She was convinced of her direction and would not take no for an answer, but I was also convinced. She walked off towards the north in a huff, giving me a terrible feeling of what was going to happen to her as I had some feelings for her. The old woman told me to let her go, so I did, but I have chafed over that decision ever since, to this day, which is why it sticks with me as it is a significant event for that reason alone.

I do not remember the rest of the journey, but in subsequent memories the old lady is there and the young girl is not. That old lady was a very significant person to our people and it was a great responsibility for me to get her where she was going so I was thought highly of for my decision to leave the young one to her own devices. Yet, I do feel bad about the whole affair.

Now, this brings to light your feelings of having known someone before, and whether to tell them. I would urge you to do so for if it proves out wrong and somehow laughable to him at least you have gotten it out and can go on. If, however, he believes, or better yet remembers himself, what a joy you could have in the reunion. To do nothing is to carry it around with you until you finally have the courage to let yourself be bold and tell him. I think it's better to get it out.

Awesome story, it is very sad though :(.

Do you know this girl today? Or the old woman?

I would love to and for him to remember. He seems sort of closed off with that sort of thing though and doesn't believe in reincarnation, to my knowledge. He also seems insecure, shy, I guess? This is not at all how I remember or see him and I think if he could remember, he would feel more confident.

No I don't know her today, but she did look an awful lot like you. I just didn't have much of a chance to get to know her well enough to tell her apart from someone else. As for the old woman, I think so, but you can never tell nowadays by looks. Its what's in the heart that tells the most. I know my personality is still at least close to the same, although I have a good deal more confidence now than then. If I do meet her I hope she's at least changed a little. I hope she can keep her ego in check long enough to listen.

As for your situation, we here on the rez need to have our spirit names before we know who we are. We also need to know our clan. With these two things we pretty much automatically feel more confident, because we have our identity, we know who we are. How you do it in your realm has always baffled me, except that many I have seen assume authority, which to our way of thinking is wrong, and thereby reside in a state of false confidence that must always be sustained by bravado and machisimo. A person who is shy or insecure would have a higher esteem than one of those others to us. If he lives in fear, however, this could be a problem. His reaction could go anywhere and backfire in your face. Sorry, that's reality as I see it.

Oh yeah? My hair is black in this pic, it is dyed. My real hair color is blonde. I kind of feel like I had more confidence in past lives than this one. Not that I don't feel confident now, but I feel exhausted and sort of discouraged.

Yeah, he seems like a strong person, but only in certain things I guess? He is very closed off in other areas and I don't even think he would entertain the idea of reincarnation at this point.

Re: Past Lives/Memories
All right, you're stuck, and so am I. Onward, I say.

The next memory I have is climbing an escarpment to reach a cave with my family unit - about 8 people, although that's just a guess since most were already in the cave where it was dark. There was a fire and in the light of it I could make out at least four seated around looking hungry. It was only the young and the old men, with only a couple of middle age women. We were in a position that, standing on the ledge in front of the cave, we could see a large plain some 100-120 acres in size that was grassy and led to a lake on the north, or left as we viewed it.

I have found this place in this life. It is in the Porcupine Mountains of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The lake was Gitche Gummi (great water) or Lake Superior as you know it. In the memory I can remember looking out over that plain with trepitude as there was no game there, and having a memory then that in past years that plain had been packed with game. This is where I saw the animals that helped me to date these memories, for there were woodland bison in that group of animals that I then remembered. The woodland bison became extinct about 8 thousand years ago.

There was much talk going on within the cave of what we were to do and where was all the game/food that we had traveled so far to get. The greater majority of our hunters, whose number I have no idea, were not there for some reason, and I have the impression they were in a counsel meeting to discuss the incursion of another people that we had not encountered before.

It was decided by the elders that a young man, a couple of years older than I, would be sent east to find something to sustain us. This person was experienced in hunting, but only barely so, but was all ther was, except for me. I have the feeliing that I was fifteen at the time, and had never hunted before, as I was too busy running messages throughout the north, and I was too young, and, I was also being groomed as a medicine person who does not hunt but helps by finding game. I had not the authority yet to find game, nor did I know how.

I did go with him to the east...

I just got a phone call, have to finish later.

Re: Past Lives/Memories
Anyone have memories of past lives? Occasionally images will flash in my head of another time...or other times. It is usually triggered by certain people or places. It is normally just flashes, nothing significant. Recently though, it happens nonstop whenever I talk to or see this person that I have just met, or not even met, just met online in various political groups that I am in. It is weird. I almost always see him in a totally different time and not just flashes, that is just how I see him. It is pretty overwhelming & strange.

yes, I believe I knew my husband before I met him. I don't know if it was a past life, but we both have vivid dreams of being together in London, and he's never been there.

He describes London with such accuracy, despite the fact he has never been there. I have lived there and know it well.

strange.
