How was she suppose to get to this safe haven? Drive? It wasn't even safe for her to tell her own parents. She didn't feel safe anywhere. The parents are responsible for this.

She should have help and at least be put in a mental institution where she can be evaluated. They will find out what went wrong. And I can tell you that it is her parents that went wrong. I always knew where my young daughters were. And at that age they were always at home. And we have a close relationship based on trust and still do now that they are older. These parents did not parent her. She was left to her own devices and of course failed miserably.

This is a very sad situation. I have yet to read a post on this thread by anyone who became pregnant as a young teenager. Most sit in judgment of her without knowing her side of the story.

I got pregnant when I was 17 and hid it from my family and boyfriend (went to college when I started showing). i went to a fake clinic that convinced me I couldn't have an abortion and then a few weeks later it was too late to get one. I was in total denial. A few girls asked me if I was pregnant, but I said it was the Freshman 15. I wanted it to go away. It didn't. Two weeks before my due date, I called an adoption center. A woman picked me up when I went into labor and I spent two nights in the hospital. I had no idea what to expect. It was a FRIGHTENING process. At least I had some support from the hospital and the adoption counselor. This young girl had no one to help her.

I had a terrible home life and my BF was 1000 miles away. I did not know what to do. I kept thinking that this shouldn't be happening to me. I am a smart girl with a big future ahead of me. This happened to other people. I partially convinced myself it would go away on its own. I had options because I was away from my home. I cannot imagine what this poor girl went through, trying to hide it from her family. This is going to haunt her fro the rest of her life. There only be a few days in her life that she doesn't deal with this emotional hell. Every time she looks into the mirror she will see something relating to her pregnancy - the sagging breast, stretch marks, belly fat....It won't be easy for her.

Try to have some sympathy. Yes, it is horrible that a newborn was murdered. If this girl could relive the last 24 hours of her pregnancy, she would surely do something different now. She is very young and scared. Until you have walked a mile in her shoes, stop with the bashing. Instead of doling out vitriol, perhaps you could focus on creating a world where a child does not have to hide her pregnancy in fear of judgment. She did not kill the baby because she was possessed by demonic forces - she killed the baby because she could not deal with the judgment associated with the pregnancy. She was young and scared and had no idea what to do. She panicked. She had no support. She needs compassion.

I initially was going to reply to this that the kid wouldn't have got knocked up with responsible parenting, however, TODAY we are in 2012, not 1950. No matter how much "good parenting" kids get, they still are corrupt monsters with self-centered as their middle names. There needs to be a serious shift in consciousness. Parents suck at parenting, but kids suck ever harder as kids today.

Also the kids are sucking as kids because of the parents. A good parent would have seen this coming from a mile away. They lived in a tiny trailer as well. Not to many places to hide there.
