"This Generation Shall Not Pass Away.." Mt. 24:34

Could this be the generation Jesus was speaking of? The generation that saw the rebirth of Israel.

As the last of the giants of the 1948 generation, Sharon has been a visible presence at every important and sensitive juncture in the chronicles of the state.

This article alludes to that very phrase from Matthew 24:33-35;

33: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34: Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

35: Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

What things must be fulfilled? Let's look.

v. 5: For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Buddha, Maitreya, Vishnu, Muhammed, etc.

v. 6: And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, The 1948 Israeli War, The Bay of Pigs, The Six Day War, The Gulf War I, Gulf War II and now the threat of nuclear war with Iran.

v. 7: For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

Add the above wars to the ME conflicts, the terrorist attacks worldwide that have increased 100 fold, famine in Biafra, Chechen, Afghanistan, all of Africa it seems. Pestilences like HIV-AIDS is at an epidemic worldwide. Earthquakes in diverse places. Afghanistan, Indonesia that causes the seas to roar and cause over 200,000 deaths in a matter of minutes.

vs. 9: Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
10: And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

And there shall be many betray one another. Look at the so called "Church" today and the apostacy that is prevalent. There is a worldwide movement to shut up "fundamentalists" as being too "intolerant" or "homophobic" or anti-abortion ad infinitum.

vs. 11: And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12: And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

False prophets? can you say Benny Hinn, Rod Parsley, TBN, Rick Warren etc, etc.

And love shall "wax cold", have you noticed the way the liberal christian community blames the "fundy" Christian community for every "intolerant" view. Why my goodness, didn't Jesus say "do not judge" and "God is love" and "we are all God's children" and if you say "Jesus is THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN you are lambasted and labled a "xenophobic" looney toons?

But in verses 13 and 14 we have hope;

13: But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14: And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

We are enduring in His love and by His Word. The Gospel HAS been preached in all the nations. His prophecy says in verses 33 and 34;

33: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34: Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

This "generation" of 1948'ers is almost passed away. The things we have seen come to pass were told to us by our Lord 2,000 years ago.
