The nucleus is the very dense region consisting of protons and neutrons at the center of an atom.

So what is really being done is electric current is causing two atoms to to trade some protons, neutrons and electrons, and the excess is emitted as energy to help the conversion process. There is no FUSING of one proton to another, etc. Protons, etc are simply added and the rest ejected. The atom is bound by EM forces and ONLY EM forces. Unless someone is aware of a gravitational theory for the atom, who just won the Nobel Prize? No? Didn't think so, but had to check.

Do Not confuse two atoms changing protons, neutrons and electrons to two atoms fusing together those same constituent parts. Fusion has never happened and never will. We have tried to smash them together and all you get is a big bang and still no fused atoms.

Sounds a bit like a forceably arranged marriage.


Perhaps the 'atoms' just need to fall in love first.
