(OP) User ID: 22508342 Japan 08/24/2012 06:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | this is an Article from Asahi Shimbun and less than 50%: Lee returns Noda's letter on Takeshima / Unusual move goes against protocol The Yomiuri Shimbun South Korea on Thursday returned a personal letter sent to President Lee Myung Bak by Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda over Lee's recent visit to the Takeshima islands and his remarks about the Emperor. According to the Yonhap news agency, the South Korean government returned the letter via registered mail after Japan's Foreign Ministry refused to let a South Korean Embassy official enter the ministry to return the letter. South Korea's returning the letter is quite unusual in terms of diplomatic protocol, and will likely further strain relations between the two countries. In the letter, Noda expressed regret over Lee's recent visit to the Takeshima islands and his remarks seeking an apology from the Emperor to victims of Japan's colonial rule of the Korean Peninsula before and during World War II. Noda sent the letter to Seoul through the the South Korean Embassy in Tokyo on Aug. 17. On Wednesday, a South Korean government source said the reason Seoul decided to reject Noda's personal letter is that the contents of the letter were "not true"--Lee has visited "Dokdo" and not "Takeshima," the source said. In a symbolic but rare move, Japanese lawmakers passed a resolution condemning Lee's visit to the islands known as Dokdo in Korea and Takeshima in Japan, and demanded their return to Japan. Noda, attacked by the opposition for being too soft in territorial rows, referred to South Korea's control of the islands as "illegal occupation", breaking with his and other prime ministers' past practice of avoiding such language. Anonymous Coward User ID: 21903530 Canada 08/24/2012 09:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Traditionally the organisation of Koreans living in Japan has supported North Korea. There is some kind of link between the Korean-Japanese and the Aum Shrinkyo cult. The Aum in turn, has over a thousand members from the Russian intelligence service as well as members in Japan's intelligence community. So now China, Russia, North Korea, South Korea, and Japan are all going through political upheavals. who controls their covert operations now? How are the alignments changing? I've never ever taken Benjamin Fulford seriously, but his latest ramblings have the Japanese Yakuza and the new leadership in Norht Korea, aligning. The Korean organisation is therefore switching sides to South Korea and Japanese oligarchs. Take that with a grain of salt, but the waters have always been murky. No they are radioactive too. |
