The flip-version of when a citizen is down on the ground and the cop-gang is beating him to death--'cept the Citizen has no "right" to attempt to defend his life. Regarding the incident: change the personas of the character, transform the cop into an Illegal Alien, or Stoned Biker. Dad comes racing out to avenge daughter's death, Illegal Alien or Stoned Biker draws gun and shoots dad--doesn't play so sympathetically in Peoria, does it? |

Quoting: Nostril Domus Fraternal Order of Police Spokesman Pat Camden identified the officer as a 43-year-old veteran of the Chicago Police. The officer was headed home on Saturday evening when the horrifying incident occurred. As he was driving home, the officer says he saw a child unexpectedly run into the street. In order not to strike the girl directly, the cop jumped off his motorcycle, pulling it down on its side on the pavement. However, the motorcycle skidded and flipped, hitting the 4-year-old girl and her 18-year-old cousin, John Passley. As the officer attempted to provide aide to the girl, her father, identified as Christopher Middleton, 26, came running out of a nearby restaurant and aggressively approached the officer and began shouting, officials said. The cop argues that he identified himself as a police officer but Middleton still hit him in the face and knocked him to the ground before striking him repeatedly. According to the Daily Herald, the officer said, “Take it easy, I’m the Police.” But Middleton replied, “I don’t give a f*ck who you are,” and punched him in the face. Right, but the guy getting pushed to the ground and having the shit kicked out of him has instincts, too. Not mention the right to defend himself. The cop was in the right here. It was an accident, he took a dive off a motorcycle to try and avoid it and then immediately went to help and gets jumped by a drunk guy ("restaurant" my ass, the father was drinking in a bar while his daughter was running out into the street...) What's he supposed to do? Lie there and get beaten into a coma? |

What the hell was she doing in the road! I saw a family eating outside at a mcdonald's earlier this year, and their little girl was about 2 or 3 and she came running towards the highway chasing their dog!!! The family was sitting at the picnic table just totally unaware. Saw the father jump up and over the picnic table running to catch his daughter, which he did....luckily... |

Kids are stupid. It was hardly the officers fault for hitting the girl with the motorcycle. That sort of aggression was not warranted, he should have gone to tend to his child. You can kill someone by punching them... The whole situation is tragic but could have been avoided entirely... |

White people don't tend to do this. Black people tend to wear dark clothes and can be hard to see at night. Walking in the middle of the road wearing dark clothes and with dark skin tends to increase the chances of being hit by a vehicle. I kind of doubt they were just walking directly across the street as in just a 30 foot walk. Most likely the two were walking down the middle of the street and even with headlights were hard to see. Tazers are considered "Less than lethal action/force"... What do cops not get about that line of thinking? And after being trained as such. They use it to not have to tackle someone like a lazy bum with ill regard, but use a gun when they SHOULD use a tazer... Am I the only one who sees this pattern over the past few years? |

In your clean little politically correct world you made for yourselves, you seem to forget that a father's role is not to nuture, but to protect his family by removing danger. If more father's reacted like this, the world would be a better place. The fact remains that cops across the country are tasering and killing people who they could easily subdue with an armhold or with diplomacy. They are storming into houses and shooting people and dogs. They can stop everybody at a stoplight because someone told them the "robber went that-a-way" and perform illegal search and seizure. If one runs over a 4 year old with his bike - and he SHOULD HAVE BEEN GOING AT A SPEED where he could STOP for anything - which motorcycle riders and cops RARELY do - I'm siding with the 4 year old and her poor dead father. |

At least you won't be killed on site. |
