Funny but I am doing just the opposite.I was debt free.Had an emergency so had to put about $2800 on credit.Paid half this month and will pay the balance off next month.
Not a wise idea to go into debt when everything is sinking.
Junk put on credit cards wont be worth anything in a crisis.
For some reason many people believe running up debt will be fine and it will just be forgotten about.Personally I dont think it will work that way.
In hard times debt is just a noose around your neck.Can get by on very little if you have no debt.Dont run up the credit cards assuming it will just disappear.

If we run out of canaries we won't have anything in the coal mine to warn us!!!

What a load of poop. Volcanoes erupt. Drought happens. Believe it or not, flooding is common on this planet. Ice melts. Sometimes more, sometimes less. But it happens. Come back when you got some real doomporn to offer, this left me uncomfortably flaccid.

I believe it!! I went shopping last night and somehow spent $200 on what I normally would have spent $140-150 on!
1 pound of turkey
1 pound of cheese
2 boxes of cereal
3 loaves of bread
pork chops
whole chicken
lettuce
crutons
4 peaches
1 pound of strawberries
5 pounds of carrots
2 package of hotdogs
1 onion
celery hearts
2 bags of chips
1 pound of cherries
small container of Cheer detergent
small bag of cat food
small box of cat litter
I'm sure there is a couple of small things I'm forgetting, but there was no way it should have cost me a little over $200. I didn't even get milk, butter, eggs, or yogart because I order them from the farm and have them delivered on Fridays.. that costs about $40 a week.
