David has been found and is safe. I want to thank ALL of you for your help during a difficult situation.

Being familiar with what it feels like to not know where your child is, you have my sympathies and congratulations on finding David.

I hope you work out a way to avoid this problem in the future.

David is a 22yo adult. You keep treating him like some little child who can't think for himself!

He needs to learn to survive on his own and not be dependent on others.

His mother and you are preventing him from growing up.

It's no wonder why he walked to his aunts house, a person who most likely will TREAT HIM AS AN ADULT and an EQUAL, to get away from his overbearing mother and other people who treat him like a mentally retarded CHILD!

actually that poster does have a point, a 22 year old is not a kid, at that age I was travelling to other countries alone...

the main thing is he has been found and has come to no harm, and i am very pleased to hear it!

when people go missing - regardless their age/capacity - people worry!

Oh and if he's able to walk 60 - 70 miles or what ever it is and make the journey safely, that proves he's more than capable of handling him self...

I've read your other thread and see how you talk of him. Everytime you talk of him as if he's a child with no possibility of being a responsible adult. It's ridiculous. He was able to walk to his aunt's house with no problem which is over 60 miles away! He obviously can do things on his own and make a living for himself without someones help. Stop treating him like he's mentally challenged. It's not fair at all to him.

I remember back when Hurricane Ivan was hitting Pensacola FL, my husband and a friend went on a cross-country hiking trip and got caught in the Ivan crossfire! It was people from here, GLP, who came together to help us locate them and found them to be in a shelter. GLP and humanity in general is a very good thing.

He is mentally disabled. He is physically 22 and mentally 10. He also has other disabilities.

There is a big difference between the average 22 year old and David.

I only know one important David vs Goliath!

I stayed up late waiting to hear and when Iluminaughty finally posted the good news, I was able to fall asleep. I, too, felt inspired as I read through the post, to see complete strangers working in tandem, to share resources and information with the collective purpose to find David. I was amazed at how quickly people were able to help, and very proud to see the GLP community (minus the immature douchebags) rally together in a beautiful deed. Believe me that what goes around comes around and all the good energy and good wishes towards a perfect stranger, who also happened to be both disabled and black (both often a target of insults on this forum), will come back to you and your loved ones, same with the cruel and insensitive comments.

Anyway, thank you mommacoop for your wonderful deed -you will be richly rewarded... and to every single person who even wished him to be found in good condition, thank you for allowing me to witness this beautiful moment. Truly inspiring.

He's obviously a protected child of God. My guess, he walked with dangerous traffic & and his gaurdian angel beside him. There is more within him than one may notice. Take the time to watch & listen. Peace.

If you followed the threads from the beginning, you would have found out that OP is NOT his mom. His mom called the police and was out looking for him. OP is a dear friend of the family, and OP lives about 700 miles away from his and his mom.

OP did a great service for this family....getting the word out to us, posting on facebook, and calling the media for help. I even emailed three local TV stations serving Pensacola, and I'm in the Northeast.

Don't make cruel and immature remarks before you know what's going on!
