Quoting: asymetriclogic Well, I sure wouldn't think that what he did was funny at all...especially if I was a lesbian...which I'm not, by the way. I'm a very happily married heterosexual. I know how some people here like to jump to conclusions very fast. I think we're doomed.... |

The scene described in the article, minus the throwing stuff, is basically the same shit he was saying and doing on Voodoo Child. He doesn't seem to fond of lesbians... |

It's the same thing like in professional wrestling where the wrestlers can gesture and jaw with the crowd, but they can't initiate contact, however if someone in the audience is offended by the wrestle's antics and jumps the guard rail and attacks the wrestler or throws a drink at the wrestle, the wrestler can and will defend themselves. |

No matter what he said or what gestures he made, he did not initiate contact, but she did by throwing a drink. I'm sure Griffin was well within bounds on what comedians can do on stage. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14774345 The best she could do is claim he taunted her, but "sexual assault", I don't think that will stick. So thrusting his groin in her face is ok because it's part of his act? I'm sorry, but I find that a little too much. I think we're doomed.... |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 551387 United States 07/31/2012 01:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not sexual assault at all. The OP is confusing people being fired for sexual harassment with assault. Assault requires contact of some kind. Say when the woman illegally threw a drink at the performer. He responded with aggression that didn't sound needed, but might be considered self defense. Being offended does not excuse assault. I think the woman in question is trying to come out charging from the gate so that she isn't charged for the first assault in this case. It's a good strategy, but this sounds like a poor comedian (Not very good) coming up against the wrong part of his audience and having the whole thing go sideways on him. *Is it all right to thrust at women as part of a comedy act? Yes. There is no law against it at all. Even if it is tacky. So in this case it looks (based on one article) to be the woman's fault and responsibility. She mistakenly thought her feeling offended was the same as being harmed or attacked. It isn't. |
