Is this a safe area in Seattle...
4219 S. Othello St, Seattle, WA 98118

It is at the Othello Park Station of the LINK and is in a part of town south of Cedar park, called Brighton. We are thinking about moving there and the crime reports look pretty typical thanks for any insight.

It's pretty okay -- not the fanciest part of town but plenty safe. Those apartments are nice, too, and it's an up and coming part of town. Actually trying to get my mom to move into that same building!

The light rail is really convenient already and in a few years you'll be able to step out of your building and go up to Capitol Hill to get sh*tty all on light rail :)

NICE, I knew I could count on GLP to help me out. Yeah they look awesome and the manager went with a camera and took video of the two units we were considering and taped the hallways and the street day and night for us seemed nice. The crime spikes a bit right there, but it is the park, it is NOT significant and it is not rape and murder it is an increase in theft assault and simple assault which makes sense with a large park.

The rent is pretty good too and the light rail makes it an awesome location. I don;t need fancy I need transportation and location, this seemed perfect so I thought I would start asking around and of course came here first.

You're just off Martin Luther King Blvd (negro territory) and about a mile south of several shootings on Rainier Avenue, possibly the most violent area in all of Seattle.

So no, I wouldn't say it's a safe area you chose.

Here's the Seattle forum at city-data.com:

It's cool they have specific forums for larger cities as well as for each state. Very active and helpful forums.

I would recommend Ballard if it wasn't too far from your work, traffic is horrible across Seattle
