Probably not. The reason why PS3 was so expensive was because of the blu-ray player which was pretty much new on the market back in 2006 when the PS3 came out. Today you can get a really good blu-ray player for $100 more or less.

It was stupid man. 4 systems in 2 years.

To be honest I didn't know GLP existed until a little over a year ago. I used to be a heavy gamer.Lost interest in recent years. I played BF3 for like 4 months and that was the last thing I really played.

Had to send 3 back for me than got rid of it...

I will however state that there customer service was outstanding in my experiance. But still it was a pain in the arse.

Sony will have their new system out before MS... look for them to show off their system at TGS this year or CES or GDC next year...

The target for it to be shown is most likely CES... for two reason...

A it will give them CES all to themselves since MS has pulled out of it and Sony financial is hurting everywhere else in the company but the gaming since... Hurting in TVs, portable electronics and others....

So it will help raise the bar at CES for other products of sony and it will be enough time to launch the system in September or August...

PS4 will not resemble the ps3 in any light...

Out goes the Cell processor which was a great piece of tech

Forcing developers to learn new programming is always a BAD BAD BAD move...

the new Xbox and PS4 will be almost the same machine...

in fact they are using similar processors and exact GPU...

Xbox is going old school set up and sony a new way of doing things in a sense...

Where the Xbox will have a CPU and a GPU configureation
Sony will have an APUGPU setup...which will make for a small looking system... since the chip for the CPU and GPU are on the same die.. this eliminates a bottleneck going from the old school stuff of a CPU and GPU the bus is eliminated between the two since they share the same die...

what does this mean..APU well it means faster processing and faster rendering all in a much smaller package...

The xbox will have a CPU and a GPU graphics card...
they are going with an AMD 5000 series card... where sony is going with a 6000 series card... now don;t get excited... because the GPU in a sense are the exact same card... when AMD made the APU line up they re-branded the GPU portion of the card...

Other than that the systems are the same...
Memory, HDD, Inputs and outputs will make the difference in the systems...
Why is sony doing this easy... developers don;t want to learn new tech that will only be good to them for 5 years or so...

If you owned a development company what would you invest in... PC architect programming that will be around for the next 15 20 years... or the cell...

it was not just about gaming SOny rolled the dice and try to break into a market that is being dominated..

That all said... it is going to come down to one thing in the next generation of gaming... and that is ...

Guild Wars 2 for the PC, Darksiders II and XCOM: Enemy Unknown...

there are 2 xcom games one is a FPS which is going to flop and Xcom enemy unknown which is a game fashioned after the original series... a TBS...

but there are so many games out there this year...

I think it really hurt them when MS beat them to the punch last round.There were many loyal Sony fans who waited and MS had already established some good titles and the online aspect.
