The man is chosen based on some kind of IQ test, and maybe also a physical tournament, like a decathlon. And women are brought to him, maybe ... when he desires them.” Ron Swanson |

I always anticipated losing weight and well fuck me, nope. Not an ounce. I know most people lose weight even after quitting DIET soda. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 16198915 United States 05/19/2012 03:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am a Dr Pepper addict, lol. I started drinking Dr Pepper at about the age of 12 and I am 32 now ... I have continuously drank about a case of DP per day for at least 15 years and I'm not a water drinker at all (I might drink a glass of water once a week or so). it's pretty safe to say that I get my water intake from the water content of Dr Pepper or various Juices I drink from time to time. I have never had a kidney infection (knock on wood), and I'm in great shape (not overweight and I'm rarely ever sick). When I am sick, I just drink more Dr Pepper, 'cause it's what the dr ordered. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 15735512 United States 05/19/2012 03:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just curious. I have some friends who almost exclusively drink soft drinks. One only drinks Diet Pepsi, another Dr. pepper, another is a Coke fiend. They rarely if ever drink water and I know the Coke drinker does NOT drink water. Quoting: HeebyGeebies Wtf? I got off the hunk a few years back, I had a diet pepsi addiction but even then I drank a shit ton of water. I'd say I drank 60% water and 40% pop which of course wasn't good but was more reasonable than what I've witnessed other people doing. If you do drink a lot of pop (soda), do you feel it is hurting your health at all? Have you noticed any side effects? I do drink mt dew and no water and it has tore up my teeth and mood changes when I have not had my day fix of it. |

Quoting: HeebyGeebies Chances are you replaced your Pop addiction with another one in the Food area. Maybe you're eating more unconciously? Nope. I believe I have a thyroid problem. I eat extremely healthy, no sugar, no dairy, no gluten, and have not lost a pound in years. I'm getting it looked at but, fuck if I know. I was fed a lot of sugar as a child and from some research papers I have read, that has a lot to do with your ability to lose weight as an adult. Basically sugar can fuck your whole damn life up if it wants to. ETA: Saw someone else post about "calories in/calories out". I carefully track every thing I eat, have for the past 8 months or so. I track my exercise, etc. From the websites calculations I should have started losing weight a long time ago. It's probably a thyroid issue, related to b12 deficiency or just simply genetics because it's unbelievable what I'm going through but hey that's another thread all it's own. You must be east coast or central, if you say, let's get a bottle of pop out west people will stare at you and say, whaaa? Quoting: READY SET GO! Yep! A friend from the southern U.S always found it very funny when I called it Pop. It's just how we roll up here on the east coast. Last Edited by HeebyGeebies on 05/19/2012 03:33 AM |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16198915 This is very interesting to me. It's so intriguing that our bodies work so differently from each other. Some people cannot handle any sugar, others show no effect at all from it. How are your teeth? any issues with them? I already guess the answer will be that they are fine. That's another one that seems to be largely genetic in my opinion- my best friends husband readily admits that he rarely brushes and he is a big sugar consumer. His teeth are nicer than anyone I know. People who floss and brush every day and are careful of sugar can't out-teeth an avid Coke drinker. Hmm! |

A few glasses of milk a day and lotsa Cokes. I'm also a bit...no, a little more than a bit, thin. If it's true that Coke makes you gain tons of weight, then I guess I'll wither away to nothing if I stop drinking it! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 5964781 Canada 05/19/2012 03:45 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The irony of me coming across this post tonight is a trip. Last night i suddenly felt a sharp tightness in my lower right back as i was sitting on my couch. After an hour or so it became unbearable and ive never been so sure i was dying in my life. No position i would lay down in stopped the pain. I could only take shallow breaths, and if i used any muscle in my torso to shift my position in bed it would hurt like hell and my lower back would lock up for a second or two in paralysing pain. When i finally tried to get up & use the bathroom in the middle of the night/early morning it felt better when i was standing, but every 25 seconds or so crippling pain shot all around my lower torso and i would hunch over and moan in pain. When i woke up this afternoon 6pm, i was feeling much better but still weak with a faint aching in the same area. My intuition tells me my health is suffering & my kidneys are the culprit. I am a PEPSI addict. As of the last year ive had patches of psoriasis appear on my legs, arm, feet & scalp. I drink a lot of beer as well as whiskey off and on as well. To be honest, im terrified. Im 28 years old and i feel like im an old man physically. When the pain in my back lower right side was at its worst last night, my legs were quivering and my fingers and toes felt ice cold. Thats the last straw, im done with Soda/Pop. I swear i can feel it killing me. The fucked up part about drinking up to 8 cans a day is measuring out the equivalent of sugar and seeing how much harm youre doing. As of right now, almost 24hrs after it started, i can still feel an odd sensation in my lower right back. Kind of scared....Mustve drank at least 7 pints of water today. |

User ID: 1295140 United States 05/19/2012 03:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Strickly Pepsi for the last 39 years and recently Pepsi and lemonade. No water....it has fluoride in it. 59 and healthy.. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1211208 I'm afraid Pepsi (as well as other sodas) has flouride in it as well. The factories where they make their soda get their water the same way we peasants do, from the flouridated tap. |

In Canada, they call it 'pop' from the Maritimes to British Columbia. On the East Coast of the USA, however, we call it SODA. Unless you're in the south, then it's just coke. |

User ID: 15825190 United States 05/19/2012 03:57 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A few years ago I broke a bone in my right foot from standing on it with it on it's side. It was the 5th metatarsal, a hairline fracture.... The doctor advised I get a test to see if I had osteoporosis. I never took it because it would've cost a LOT (no health insurance) AND for the test to be any good I'd have to retake it some months(?) later (which means more out of pocket expense). I'm not 100% sure Pop was the culprit, but it's highly suspect... With it's carbonation and/or phosphoric acid. They say Coke can dissolve nails... But Pepsi and Dr Pepper were my main drinks of choice. Probably less than a year ago I start getting these itchy spots on my back and arms. They look just like hives and itch just as bad too. But they don't 'BREAK OUT' like hives. For a while I didn't know what was causing it. Bed-bugs (well, I do work in a hotel)? The laundry detergent I was using? Flea powder (for my cats)? I changed detergent, and I doubted the possibility of bed-bugs (simply because they didn't match the know pattern and 'bites' of bed-bugs), and I didn't use that flea powder again. But I was still getting the itchy bumps. Then I wondered if it was the pop I was drinking. So I quit for a while... Until I gave in again and drank some. And they came back. Right now I've not drank any carbonated beverages for about 2 weeks. Actually, I quit buying Pepsi (that is said to have used fetal tissue for the purposes of taste testing for their products) and did drink RC Cola, and the itchy spots weren't any where near as bad as they were. I guess I've been substituting this with Kool-Aid (Fruit punch and Strawberry Kiwi). I'm sure I'll get some Pepsi or Dr Pepper again in the future. I definitely haven't been bothered for a good long while, but I'll be watching to see if they come back. Last Edited by Gaius_4 on 05/19/2012 03:59 AM |
