I sometimes feel that all the time I spend posting on GLP is sinful, but then I realize that the Lord wants us to defend the faith..so I continue to post. I do feel that the time is short and there will be few opportunities to proclaim the Gospel online.

I still spend time in prayer and Scripture...but I see the need here...make sense?

I absolutely agree. I feel rotten when I repeat a sin, then keep saying sorry to God for a while after it. Sometimes it feels like a sin to keep apologising because this is like doubting that he has forgiven me.

I am not gonna lie. I used to feel bad about sin. Then, I decided I look into what the root cause of all of this was and I came to the conclusion that I was feeling guilty about nonsense.

There is no such thing as sin. There are short comings, for sure, but these can be identified as things that you do that are self defeating. Allowing yourself to get in debt and not having the wilpower to pull yourself out would be a shortcoming, for example.

The fact is, anything we do which sells ourselves short of our potential, or places us in a position where we are not in control is the only shortcoming we need to worry about. The primary "sin" most people are guilty of is guilt for no reason. To use Thomas Aquinas' Seven Deadly Sins as a starting point, not a single one of these is anything to feel guilt over. The truth is that not taking advantage of these seven keys to a successful and well lived life is the greatest self injury one can do. The drive to posess something is called greed by those without the drive and motivation to take from life. Lust is the scapegoat for those who allow their imagination to roam, yet lack the wilpower and determination to make themselves a viable candidate for relationships. Gluttony is the martyr of those who lack the discipline to eat what they want and put the energy to useful ends. Letting someone learn a valuble lesson regarding their stupidity or ignorance is called wrath, and it may save someone's life or prevent the shallow end of the gene pool from getting deeper. Envy is recognizing your own shortcomings when you see someone who is better, and it is only wrong when it is not used to improve yourself. These are a few examples of what has been called sin, and yet on careful examination the only thing wrong is supressing these internal drives to betterment of life.

In conclusion to my short rant I say this: It is partly correct to say that until you "own" your guilt you will be enslaved to it. It is the answer to the problem that I must disagree with; As long as you assume that you are doing something wrong because you have urges to upgrade your lot in life, and so long as you fail to embrace those urges, you will forever be a slave.

Sin is described in the Bible as transgression of the law of God (1 John 3:4) and rebellion against God (Deuteronomy 9:7; Joshua 1:18). You are so right OP about 'owning' our sins, it's so important to be honest with ourselves and Jesus, He can't help us if we're not. The best kind of prayer is the totally honest kind and the most meaningful. He knows our very thoughts and desires so it's not like He doesn't know what's going on, He just desires for us to be honest, better to just lay it on the line with Him. I think many people have a problem with this because they were taught to pray 'set' prayers or repeating them over and over. I've been guilty of that in the past as I was brought up a catholic and the repeat X1000..

You see it is all to do with perfection - God is perfection and we humans can never aspire to be without any sin - it is because of this that we can be saved - can you imagine if the Creator was less than perfect the mess we would be in - essentially God is our yardtick and that is the goal we must aim for..................simples - but very difficult if not impossible

I feel the same way LOJ...I was raised Catholic too.

The last thing the Lord wants is for us to be silent. I find myself doing this all the time so all I have to do is just speak up. He is waiting ever so patiently !

Their belief will not allow them to open their eyes. The truth requires disbelief and a willingness to question everything they see, hear, taste, smell, touch. Their reality is as deep as their belief, and reality is an illusion. Only experiment and experience will teach the truth.

They may overcome sexual sin..anger..stealing and lying..dirty thoughts...envy..
