HAS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY GONE TOO FAR TO THE RIGHT?
That's an accusation I often here from Democrats. I hear it A LOT! It's one of their fav talking points.

So do you think the Republican party has gone too far to the right? I am not old enough to be able to compare then and now.

To me, what I do see is the country being pulled to the left. So when the Republicans try and bring it back to the right side, the left just yells "Extremist!"

But, like I said, I was young during the Reagan years, didn't care about anything politics back then. So maybe they have gone too far right......

What do you think?

And if you think they have..do you think it is just the Republicans? Or all factions of conservatism?

No, the democrats have gone too far to the left. The democrats are experts at projection and that's why the accusation against the Republicans is made.

Yea, the way it seems like I said, is they are pulling the country so far left, that when someone tries to correct it back, they accuse them of being too etreme....

Dunno. All I want is for the fucking gov't to stop meddling with everything in our lives. Neither one is perfect but it's basically picking the lesser evil of two...

Re: HAS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY GONE TOO FAR TO THE RIGHT?
democrats have been taken over by a far far left movement, even life long democrats see this. as a matter of fact there is a book written by a life long democrat very eye opening.

the book is called the Duping of America.

republicans have moved to the center too many have departed from conservative values. those are called RINO"s republicans in name only.

True conservatives still adhere to their core beliefs of let each human on earth reach for his or her own destiny, let them be allowed to live life as they see fit be it to excell or merely live for ones family and life style. The thing is its up to each human to decide NOT big brother. WE believe in less taxes due to smaller government.. balancing budgets.. not robbing from our grand kids like Obama and democrats are doing now.
The religious right believes if you don't want to believe DON"T.. but leave others to say prayers, say GOD... have Christmas not winter holidays... to sing God Bless America.!

Both of them went too far to authoritarianism

Both "liberal" and "republic" citizens tend to want a lot more libertarianism than either party is interested in.

That is a very true statement. A lot of hardcore liberals I know have been leaning more toward Libertarian views.

It is nice to see. Libertarian policies will save this country some day.

Re: HAS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY GONE TOO FAR TO THE RIGHT?
Are you kidding? The democratic party of 50 years ago was more conservative than the current republican party. JFK actually lowered taxes! It was the founder of the democratic party who said, "The government that governs best, governs least."

What has happened is that the democratic party has merged with the communist party USA. Their platforms are indistinguishable and they support the same candidates. The democrats are NWO, globalist, plutocrats who use racism and class warfare to attempt to bring about a feudalistic one world government.

The republicans are the democratic party of 25 years ago. There are very few real conservatives left. Maybe Ron Paul or a Pat Buchanan actually believes in limited government. The rest just want money and power.

Re: HAS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY GONE TOO FAR TO THE RIGHT?
Define "right". Not trying to be picky, but there are a couple of definitions that weasely politicians (that is who we are talking about) squirm around to claim to be one thing and escape being accused of being another. Words are important, but in today’s world corrupt people keep changing the meanings of words to suit whatever their needs are to influence people and gain or retain power.

If “Right” is morality, then no. Examples: Sodomy and witchcraft use to be illegal in most states. No Republican would dare propose anything remotely close to that today. Those kinds of immorality are not only accepted now, but legally protected and as much as most Republicans are opposed to same sex marriage, those same people cower behind the Seinfeld line of “not that there is anything wrong with that” and a nervous chuckle when challenged and run straight for the lie of “separation of church and state” whenever any non-Christian tells them to.

If “Right” is constitutional government, then no. Example: The Patriot Act. Ever increasing freedom killing regulation in-spite of claiming to be for smaller more limited government.

If “Right” is in the direction of traditionalism, then no. Republicans have not moved back towards a more traditional government, morality, or culture. Like their “Left” counterparts they have moved further away from tradition to embrace constantly growing government, to accept more and more constantly degrading morality, and the depravity of wide open multiculturalism even when those cultures are in direct conflict.

No, the “”Left” (immoral, expansive government, non-traditional) screams that Republicans are dragging the country backwards when the truth is that the two are both moving in the same immoral, expansive government, non-traditional direction. The difference is that Republicans are getting there much slower than Democrats…. except maybe people like Larry Craig who was a Republican at the time he was busted for soliciting gay sex in an airport bathroom.

Look at just a few things that are common place and protected by law today that were seen as taboo and even illegal just 3-4 decades ago. Cursing on public television and radio was not allowed by law in the 70’s. Prime time TV is a cesspool now and hard core porn is free to anybody with an internet connection. No cop local or federal dared search you without probable cause. Been to an airport lately? Homosexuality was ridiculed and hidden for fear of exposure. Now they have parades and not one Republican would dare try to stop them. Witchcraft and or demonic possession was virtually unheard of in public, now they have whole TV series and movies about it.

Are Republicans trying to return the country to anything close to more innocent days when saying the “S” word (sex) in public made mothers put their hands over their kids ears? Nope. They are just barely slowing down the march towards depravity. That is, when they are not directly participating in it.
"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787
