So, i think Tokyo is through,
Storm is decreasing, Water Levels are high
but not dangerous high!

Fuku-Daiichi looks also well and i hope
that not so many People got killed
and the People who lost their Life
should have a safe Return (when they want)!

Fuku-Daiichi reported 30m/ second Wind!

I do not know if this is good for all the Dust, Pollen, etc,
but we have luck again because it is also very wet!
 Quoting: Atom-Boy

That's about 70mph I guess.

I guess Tokyo never gets wind. That's not so fast, we get gusts over 50mph many times a year here in the NYC suburbs. I doubt there's a place in the USA that would consider 70mph gusts to be very unusual.

Sustained 70mph is somewhat significant; they start calling it a hurricane at 74mph sustained winds. But that's not to say "everything is falling apart", it's just the lowest level of hurricane.

Can ya throw in a mention of radiation...will it clean it or spread it around?
 Quoting: Baldrick

'clean it?'

That's rich!!

AHAHAhahahahahaha!

A low pressure area approaching the main island, will dump all manner of radioactivity along the entire island chain from fuku, and absorb into the water, soil and vegetation, and of course the air.

Japan’s Strongest Storm Since 1959 Forecast to Slam Into Tokyo
Airlines canceled hundreds of flights, some train services were halted and thousands of workers went home early as Japan’s weather agency forecast the strongest winds in more than 50 years will hit Tokyo today.

A storm crossing Japan from the southwest is forecast to hit the capital with sustained winds of up to 90 kilometers an hour (56 miles per hour), Takeo Tanaka, head of the weather advisory office at the Japan Meteorological Agency, said in a telephone interview today. The winds are expected to reach peak strength in Tokyo between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m., the agency said.

Typhoon-strength storm brings travel chaos to Japan
Over 240 flights were grounded and train services were suspended.

Forecasters said an expanding low pressure system in the Sea of Japan (East Sea) was forcing a cold front over the country, where it was bringing heavy rains and strong winds.

"This is like the core of a typhoon, but it is staying for a long time, whereas a typhoon usually moves rather quickly," a spokesman for the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

"Winds as strong as this are very rare," he said.

The meteorological agency said on its website the strong winds would move northwards into Wednesday, producing waves up to 10 metres (30 feet) high.

"In particular, ferocious winds are expected at sea (in the north) on the Sea of Japan side. Please be extremely wary of violent winds and high waves."

Japan Airlines cancelled 160 domestic flights, affecting 23,700 passengers, while international flights experienced minor delays.

All Nippon Airways cancelled 83 domestic flights, affecting 8,900 people.

East Japan Railways, which operates a vast train network in the eastern and northern regions, including Tokyo, cancelled a number of long-distance services.

What am I missing here? 56 mph is not typhoon strength, and my area has been hit with winds that high and higher quite recently, and my city's structural integrity is terrible. If Tokyo buildings are made to withstand earthquakes, this shouldn't be anything to worry about at all. Again, am I missing something?

Fukushima is NNE of Tokyo, fortunately (for Tokyo... but other people live in the other direction.) And winds stir everything up in every direction. I'm glad they recommended people stay inside.
