Burmese opposition (Suu Kyi) win!
Burmese opposition claims Suu Kyi win

Supporters of Burma's opposition icon Aung San Suu Kyi erupted in euphoric cheers Sunday after her party said she won a parliamentary seat in a landmark election, setting the stage for her to take public office for the first time.

The victory, if confirmed, would mark a major milestone in the Southeast Asian nation, where the military has ruled almost exclusively for a half-century and where a new reform-minded government is seeking legitimacy and a lifting of Western sanctions.

It would also mark the biggest prize of Suu Kyi's political career, and a spectacular reversal of fortune for the 66-year-old Nobel Peace Prize laureate who the former junta had kept imprisoned in her lakeside home for the better part of two decades.

The victory claim was displayed on a digital signboard above the opposition National League for Democracy's headquarters in Burma's main city, Yangon, where more than 1,000 supporters began wildly shouting upon learning the news.

"We won! We won!" her supporters chanted while clapping, dancing, waving red party flags and gesturing with thumbs-up and V-for-victory signs.

Earlier, the party had claimed that Suu Kyi was ahead with 65 percent of the vote in 82 of her constituency's 129 polling stations. The party had staff and volunteers spread throughout the vast rice-farming district, who were calling in preliminary results by phone to their headquarters in Yangon.

Burma's Aung San Suu Kyi wins by-election: NLD party
Burma's Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi has won a by-election for parliament, her party says, after a landmark vote which saw 45 seats contested.

Ms Suu Kyi's opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) said she had easily won the vote in Kawhmu, though official counts have not yet finished.

The NLD was competing in its first elections since 1990.

The vote is a key test of promised political reforms, though the military-backed ruling party remains dominant.

During the campaign, foreign journalists and international observers were given the widest access for years.

The European Union hinted that it could ease some sanctions if the vote went smoothly.

"We hope the whole day can be run in a peaceful way and we'll make an evaluation later on the basis of all the polling sessions that we will be seeing," EU observer Ivo Belet said.

Bogyoke (General) Aung San (Burmese: အောင်ဆန်&#4152;; MLCTS: buil hkyup aung hcan:, pronounced [bòdʑoʊʔ àʊɴ sʰáɴ]); 13 February 1915 – 19 July 1947) was a Burmese revolutionary, nationalist, and founder of the modern Burmese army, the Tatmadaw.

He was a founder of the Communist Party of Burma and was instrumental in bringing about Burma's independence from British colonial rule in Burma, but was assassinated six months before its final achievement. He is recognized as the leading architect of independence, and the founder of the Union of Burma. Affectionately known as "Bogyoke" (General), Aung San is still widely admired by the Burmese people, and his name is still invoked in Burmese politics to this day.

Aung San is the father of Nobel Peace laureate and opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

A recent release of classified documents from British Foreign office regarding the assasination of Aung San has prompted an investigation by BBC. BBC reported that the assasination plot was far more complicated then previously thought. It was suggested that the involvement of high ranking British government officials were hidden by British Foreign office until 1997. BBC traced back some links between Sir Reginald Dorman-Smith (an ex governer of Burma) and U Saw - the convicted assassin.

Not many People here are interested in Myanmar?

This is one of the best Country in the World
and i am happy that the Burmese People never gave up
to dream, to belief and to fight for their Human Rights!

The SLORC was and is responsible for Genocide
of many Hill-tribes
(mostly the KAREN and the Shan)
they use/d Rape as a Weapon,
they recruited Kids as Soldiers, t
hey forced Millions of People into Slavery,
done and do Drug Production (Heroin and YABA)
and imprison/ed countless People in horrible Prisons,
they are/was as bad as many African Warlords!

When the Situation change now
a great Country and a great Nation,
with many different Races and Tribes will return
to the/a more "Free World"!

(Compare to Myanmar/ Burma the so called "Free World" is Heaven)

A "NWO-Puppet" would be not able to stand a Life
like She had done, she is True!

What do you know about her,
do you ever listen what she had said in the past?
Do you ever read something from her Feather?

In my humble Opinion you are both uninformed Shills
of the Burmese Military Junta!
(not really hf
but read something about or/and from her
because it is interesting!)
