Huge Ball of Fire
I just saw a huge ball of fire go across the sky. It's path was from SW to NE. I was looking out my window to the northwest at 8pm cst. I live near Midway TX, which is 12 miles east of I-45 and about halfway between Houston and Dallas.

It was probably space garbage burning up or a meteorite. Either way it is the biggest one I've seen. I've seen fireballs many times because I live in a rural area that hasn't much ambient light. I reported it to our local sheriff's department.

I am posting it here to know if anyone else in my area saw it. I would appreciate your reply.

I saw something last night in San Diego. It looked like a small meteor - it was really bright white with a tail. I watched it streak across the sky and disappear.

That was the craziest thing I've ever seen, Bright green and very close. The tail was about a foot long (in perspective)

Re: Huge Ball of Fire
Where I live, the object could have come from the direction of Austin.

This may or may not be related to it, but while I was driving home this evening [about 6 pm] I noticed a huge, white, square-like object in the sky just northeast of the setting sun. It didn't look like a planet or a star. I intended to look at it through my binoculars when I got home. Unfortunately, some clouds blocked it from my view once I got there.

Did anyone else see this phenomenom, too?

Re: Huge Ball of Fire
Judging from the direction I saw it "fizzle out", it could have dropped debris in East Texas; perhaps near Crockett.

I remember seeing the Hale-Bopp comet back in the early 1990s. This meteor[?] resembled it, but much lower altitude. I must have seen the last of it because I watched it turn from bright white light to yellow-orange flame; then it was gone. Of course it was moving through the sky, so I don't know how far away it was when it faded from view.

I looked at the photos on Space Weather and what I saw didn't look like them.
