This story features an enormous British passenger liner called the Titan which hit an iceberg and went down in the pacific in April.
Around this time, JP Morgan/Rothschilds/Rockefellers plot private take over of the US monetary power via the creation of the Federal Reserve followed by later removal of the "gold" standard which would open the door to free money printing. Standing in their way are the other "super rich" who oppose this takeover. Namely, John Astor (Astoria named after him) the richest man in the world, Isador Strauss, the head of Macy's Department Stores, and Benjamin Guggenheim. All three perished on the Titanic, and JP Morgan conveniently missed boarding the Titanic after inviting all the others to the maiden voyage.

Just like Titan foreshadowed the Titanic intentionally, the movie 2012 foreshadowed Costa Concordia, a repeat of Titanic in a new era. See image below and comparison to Costa Concordia.. I horizontally flipped the Costa to match.
