yeah I had about 4...this year. then again just up the road still playing toad in the hole. havent seen that many toad road kills yet.
havent seen one in the middle of the road trying to take me out hahaha these days nor have I put a shoe on with one in it hahah...yeah game of golf seems to be out. have mowed for weeks and never saw a toad trying to get out from the yard.. or hide from me mowing.
yeah walk to the milkbar, iga no toad squished on the road,always on the road never the footpath or drive way.
smart toad. I have seen more spiders and cockies ...

Several years back there were scientific reports that the amphibians were being killed off by some ultraviolet wavelengths. In texas up until the late 60's there were "horned frogs" all over the place. They were a texas institution like armadillos. I haven't seen any in 30 years. The ordinary frogs, bull frogs seem to be almost gone now. Up until the eary 80's there would be millions of birds flying around in huge groups in this part of texas this time of year. There are almost none at all now. Even the black birds and crows are dwindling.

I wacked one with the flat side of a shovel once before I knew how tough.
It flattened out and stuck out its tongue like it was dead and hopped away later...

We seem to have more snakes and birds than usual.
I can't really quantify that though.
The toads however even have my wife looking at me like I know something after all since I pointed it out to her.
