It seems spiders are immune to bufotoxin.

Queensland Museum spider expert Dr Robert Raven said he had witnessed a tarantula devouring a toad in the wild near Cooktown several years ago.

"The toad had jumped near the entrance to the spider's burrow at night, and the spider just launched out and grabbed it and took it down into the burrow, like a scene out of a movie," he said.

I live between LA and San Diego, we still have a ton of toads. There is so much smog here I can watch the sun set without any ill effects on my eyes.

I had 3 cane toads in my yard last year for the 1st time since I've lived in this house (10 yrs) & they freaked me out they are sooo ugly!

I used to have at least 16 (last count) big green tree frogs & have only seen one since the first sighting of the toads. I'm pretty sure they eat them & I'm happy not to have seen any this year - so far.

Toads for the win. Who would dare harm such creatures?

Se QLD here, and I have been saying for about three years that there seems to be less and less cane toads, I live in a very moist area near the sunshine coast on hundreds of acres..a few cane toads where i would expect to see thousands

My driveway is 2 klms long, I hardly see any when driving at night and even have to go outa my way to run them over...sorry cane toad lovers.

That's funny because I live in Brisbane and I'm finding them everywhere. You know they mostly come out at night and when it's raining.

Where I live in the midwest toads are almost a thing of the past. Been this way for years now. A few years ago they were everywhere. Birds are going the same way around here.
