Clarke joins the ranks of giants

MICHAEL Clarke has sometimes struggled to win the affection of the Australian public.

In one profound innings at his home ground of the SCG, Clarke proved his doubters wrong and won this country's wholehearted admiration.

INDIA's Sachin Tendulkar has again fallen agonisingly short of a much-anticipated 100th international century, after falling for 80 at the SCG.

The Little Master was caught by Michael Hussey at first slip off the bowling of Michael Clarke for 80, after the ball parried off the gloves of Australian wicketkeeper Brad Haddin.

Earlier, Peter Siddle struck with only his second delivery but the first session belonged to India and Tendulkar.

Clarke can do no wrong! He got one to turn, it caught the edge of the prodding Tendulkar, it clipped Haddin's gloves and then flew to Hussey at slip and the Little Master has to go.
