Anonymous Coward User ID: 1730323 United States 01/04/2012 06:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Neither. I went the same route and ended up using the ecig for a while. You end up easily taking more nicotine from the ecig, and while I've read the good and the bad reports, in general (from a good source), the liquid solution won't contain any major nasties. Given that, yes they are refillable and very cost effective. But don't be stupid. If you already quit smoking for 3 days the nicotine has left your system. Why bother going back after the effort you already invested? The biggest thing that helped me when I quit I think was getting high naturally. I started running every day. It was a week of absolute hell. BUT. That buzz you get after a good long workout is soooo sweet. I never wanted to smoke after working out anyway, but this was better than anything I had ever felt. It was a nice reward for giving up the nico-beast, and I think it really helped my mind & body kind of get over the nicotine cravings and get adjusted to natural goods like serotonin and dopamine. DONT SMOKE! StAY STRONG! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 6694008 United States 01/04/2012 06:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have read up on Snus and it seems to be 98% better than smoking, especially the Swedish kind. As far as e-cigs I have heard some stories that FDA found more toxic chems in the e-cigs than normal cigs, is that true? Any info on e-cigs - safety, how long do they last, can you refill them, etc? Thanks! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1003364 I don't believe anything coming from the FDA. Cigarettes are full of toxic chemicals and known carcinogens. E-cigs have as their main ingredients, pure glycerine and propylene glycol. I'd rather "smoke" that, than what real cigs have in them. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1003364 United States 01/04/2012 06:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok, now I know what "snus" is. It's snuff tobacco. I have this at home, BTW. If you wanna quit, it is not the solution. I want to quit SMOKING - not the use of nicotine! Nicotine is just as harmful as caffiene - its like saying that caffeine in soda is harmful - its the sugar, which makes you fat. In cigs, its not the nicotine - its the smoke and other chems that are the problem. |

I bought a 501 then upgraded to the genesis echo (massive battery) [link to www.gecigarette.com] You need to find a flavour that helps, but it gives you the nicotine hit your looking for to be honest. ive smoked about 3 rollups per day since using this and think i may wel win this battle! |

User ID: 1521191 Portugal 01/04/2012 06:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I wont recommend e-cig. It smells and tastes very weird/wrong, and sometimes a little fluid comes out, which can't be right. And looking at how it works, it looks like a useless piece of shit that does nothing. Quoting: C35A I quit smoking 7 months ago with e-cig. It's true that sometimes the fluid comes out. I've changed the filter every time that hapenned. None of the methods do anything to help you quit smoking. I've held the e-cig for 3 months and then gave the full cut. After all it's 90% in your mind the key to success. And by the way... i was smoking 2 packs a day and smoke for 26 years. Cheers Draco Last Edited by DracoLX on 01/04/2012 06:17 PM Cheers, Draco |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1311324 United States 01/04/2012 06:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i've passed the two year mark without a cigarette, thanks to my e-cigs. i've used kr-808 models, starting with v4l, currently using an iGo with jumbo 808 dripper cartomizers. there are TONS of liquids out there, some absolutely horrible, some absolutely delicious. it takes a while to find what you really like. NEVER buy an e-cig from a kiosk at a mall. they are all very low quality and very over priced. never sign up for any sort of monthly thing, it's a ripoff. 808 style models are great to start with due to the prefilled cartomizers. there's a bit of a learning curve with refilling and filling blanks, but it's not that hard. best to buy blank cartos and bottles of liquid [30 ml] as it's very economical. i usually get a week per carto (~$2 each) and fluid is ~$13 for 30 ml which lasts me quite some time. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WITH THESE BOTTLES OF FLUID IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN OR PETS AROUND. one 30 ml bottle of 28mg/ml nicotine is enough to kill pets and give kids a TERRIBLE time. there are many places where you can get USA made liquids, you can even get propylene glycol and or vegetable glycerin, along with nicotine concentrate and flavorings to make your own. [link to www.e-cigarette-forum.com] tons of good info there. some people have a PG allergy... keep that in mind. |

To those using alternative methods such as the e-cig, why didn't you just continue to use the e-cig since its safer? It really is not an issue with nicotine, in fact nicotine has several benefits. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1003364 For me it was time to quit for good. Just that. And you'll be amazed with all the money you save. Take the money you normally spend daily in cigars out and by the end of the month do something wild :-) Cheers, Draco |

And probably 18mg strength would be fine. You can check out GrimmGreen on youtube, as he has done tons of reviews and informational videos to help you understand what it's all about. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 8280636 Australia 01/04/2012 06:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP... Buy a couple of refurbished Briar estate pipe on eBay. Purchase pipe tobacco. Google up how to pack, rest, ream, clean, properly smoke the pipe (there's some excellent pipe smokers forums) Smoke pipe while quitting cigs (you'll still want to smoke a cigarette for a while, the nicotine delivery with a pipe is nothing like with cigarettes) After a few months go to pipe "full time" Then realise you can go without pipe without issues unlike with cigarettes. Thank me later. |

It hasn't taken the place of the smokes completely but it has helped me cut down. I was a pack a day and with the ecig Im a pack every two and still slowing. I hope to completely quit smokes in a few weeks if not sooner If something can corrupt you, you're corrupted already. Take the money you normally spend daily in cigars out and by the end of the month do something wild :-) a pack a day at $5/pack is $1,825/year. you can vape for ~$300/year easily, after you figure out what you like. Quoting: Digital Rapture the high-voltage devices aren't the best to start with, higher initial investment and higher chance to mess it up. 808's are excellent to start with, batteries are ~$17 and a 5 pack of cartomizers is ~$10. you can get up and goin with an 808 system for $40-50, whereas the highvoltage devices tend to already be at $50+. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1003364 United States 01/04/2012 06:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So an e-cig is basically a dollar a day? Not bad, thats the cost of a coke. Will be stopping by the indian smoke shop later to see what they have as far as kits. So i assume that these e-cigs have replaceable carts, correct? About how many puffs are in a cart and how does one puff from an e-cig equate to a puff on a normal cig as far as nicotine, etc? |
