Explain to me how I'm going to BURN in hell!!

or maybe they were just exaggerating when it came to hell maybe it's just slightly unpleasent, like everything smells slightly of old eggs and poop, and everything's cooked wrong. the eggs are all loogieish and the bacon's black. the hashbrowns are under cooked and the chickens all got that dusty overcooked flavor. maybe satan has done all he can to make your stay in hell better, but he just doesn't have the resources to provide for all those people. maybe hell is worse for satan because he tries so hard, and gets such a bad wrap.

Ok so some questions came into my mind while reading a thread about atheist are fools and etc. Now i'm not technically an atheist but the question is still lingering and in need of an answer!

The bible doesn't TEACH eternal torment of the wicked. It teaches destruction of the wicked. I teaches tha the wicked shall be as if they never were.

The wages of sin is death. Not eternal life in torment.

The word "hell" is an old English word translated from the original Greek word "Hades", and simply means "the grave". In fact, people in England and Ireland used to say things like (for example) "we've got a surplus of potatoes this crop, so we'll be storing plenty in Hell over the winter".

The word hell simply means underground, or in biblical context, "the grave". Problem is, most people confuse "hell" with the Lake of Fire, which is where the wicked are destroyed, along with Satan and the demonic horde. It is a TEMPORARY phenomenon that occurs at the same time the earth is remade, and purified by fire. Everything that is sin, is BURNT UP.

The bible says that the wicked shall be consumed in the fire. That there will be neither root, nor branch left of them, but only ashes under the feet of the righteous. The bible says "the SMOKE of their torment will rise forever and ever" That is because SMOKE is all that will be left.

The bible says that "death and hell were cast into the Lake of Fire". (Revelation 20:14) Which means that death and THE GRAVE will be destroyed. Would it make sense if that verse said "Death and hell were be cast into hell"?? The Lake of Fire (where the wicked are to be destroyed) is NOT "hell". The bible says that "the last enemy to be destroyed is death" (1st Corinthians)

The doctrine of "eternal hellfire" was invented by the medieval Roman catholic "church", in an effort to terrorize people into obeying the church, and to enable the church to fleece the people of their property. The Roman "church" has perverted and twisted God's word for it's own use since the inception of the Papacy. They've changed God's commandments just as the bible says they would.


The REAL problem here, is that YOU don't study, the way the scriptures tell you too, and consequently, you are easily deceived by Satan's tactics. Which in the end, are designed to make sure that you do not believe the truth. Because faith and obedience is what saves a person from destruction. Satan does NOT want you to have what he will never have again.

Satan has already done a good job at puffing you up with pride (as evidenced by your sarcastic attitude), and encouraged you to depend on your own highly fallible "wisdom".

You want an education to be handed to you in a box. Sorry, but it doesn't work that way. It takes effort and a sincere heart to find God. God didn't say, "Seek me with part of your heart and little effort". The scriptures say, "Seek me with ALL of your heart, and you will find Me."


But, since you are part of a very rebellious end-times generation who lives on fast food, and expects everythin handed to them with no effort, I'll do you a favor.

Watch this series of videos (78 in all) which are about 8 or 10 minutes each. Just watch one or two at a time so that your attention deficit disorder doesn't take over. By the time you are finished, you'll have a better understanding of REAL history than your average college professor. And even you, might be interested enough to watch 10 of them in a row.

OP do not listen to the false prophets, Hell is real and many souls are headed there very soon, they will be burning for eternity. Most false prophets make stuff up and will not read the Bible, which contains the truth as it is Gods Word.

I was raised Protestant, Dad was the choir director, Mom sang in the choir. So, I was raised with the bible, Sunday church, bible study classes and parents who believed. But...at some point in our history this conversation came about with my Mom:

On the subject of burning in hell from my Mother, circa 1968 I asked my mother about my sins and would I burn in hell. I was 14 years old, had lost my virginity and Mom found out.

Her reply:
"The bible tells us that God loves us more than our own parents can imagine. If that is true, with as much as I love you and your brother, no matter what sin you committed, I would never want to see you burn in hell."

I trust my Mother's instincts on this. The bible has many great lessons in it, but it also has the hands of man on it. Which makes is suspect to me.

And - I live a good an honest life. I do not believe that because I don't follow a doctrine that I'm going to burn in a lake of fire. That, is not the act of a merciful God, for simple human 'mis-understanding' (if that's what it truly is) while living the 'right life' anyway.

Are we Sent to Hell for All Eternity Simply for Not Believing in Jesus?

Is it fair that the Bible says people can get into heaven by simply believing in Jesus, when there might be some far better people around who might go to hell simply because they didn't believe in him?

This question derives from a misunderstanding. When Jesus said that anyone who believes in him will have eternal life, the implication of his word believe has been lost in many Bible translations; it actually had the connetation of not only believing, but also obeying. The jewish people would have understood that actions would automatically follow from true faith, and it wouldn't be true faith without them. (Though the true meaning of the word believe has been lost in many translations, the principle is spelled out in so many New Testament verses that it doesn't matter.)

The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous 50 and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matt 13.47) ...

But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time,’ 49 and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. 50 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. 51 He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out. 29 People will come from east and west and north and south, and will take their places at the feast in the kingdom of God. (Luke 13.28ff)

The discomfort described here is weeping/sorrow, NOT screaming/pain--contrary to most of the popular images of hell used for this question.

Hell is thought by many to be eternal. But an examination of the original Greek words apparently sheds a new light on it, and according to some, it turns out that hell is a process of punishment meant to refine and correct faults, to bring people to feel sorrow for their past behaviour so they sincerely seek forgiveness and wish to change their ways, at which point, they can be allowed into heaven.

From an article called Is It All GREEK to You? by brad edwards:

"... While on the topic of "FIRE," let's consider another strong passage from Revelation.

REV 14:10"...he will be tormented with burning SULFUR in the PRESENCE of the holy angels and the Lamb"

In this verse we see the word "SULFUR" used for "tormenting" (punishing) those who follow the Beast. Also note that this is done in the PRESENCE of Jesus and not in some subterranean fire pit away from God. It is this PRESENSE of our holy God that causes their pain to be sure. So what is SULFUR? Well, in some Bibles it is translated "brimstone," but the Greek word here is "THEION" which can also be translated DIVINE as in something from God. Places that lightning touched were called "theia" and left a sulfurous smell. Also sulfur was used in purification ceremonies in that day by some outside of Judea. The real key here is that THEION is derived from THEOS which is GOD! Yes, THEOS is God in Greek and the word THEION comes directly from this Source.

Consider this passage from Acts:

Act 17:29 "Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the DIVINE Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man."

The word translated here DIVINE is THEION which has been translated sulfur in other passages like in Revelation. The lake of Fire has a direct connection to the Divine because it comes from God. Not only is this a Divine Fire, but it is one that PURIFIES whatever it comes in contact with. Are we to suppose that our God and Father has no purpose in this Fire that torments those He created in His image and likeness? All that God does has purpose, we simply can't comprehend it yet. ...

The next word to look at is "AION" and its derivatives- "AIONION" and "AIONIOS." That ugly doctrine of "eternal" hell greatly depends on this word meaning forever. ...

There are many passages I could cite showing that AION or OLAM doesn't mean forever, but concerning an AGE or AGE-LASTING. The many derivatives of AION are relating to an age or of the ages. Aionios is rendered "age-lasting" in better translations. The corrective punishment God uses is only for as long as it takes to bring godly sorrow and repentance. Many literal translations of the Bible have corrected this mistake as to bring back loving harmony to God's word as you will read later in this study. To reiterate, aion means an age- a limited period of time and NOT eternal, forever nor forever and ever. ...

The word for punishment here is "KOLASIS." The meaning is to punish, but for CORRECTIVE purposes and not out of vengeance. God is correcting those nations on His left with "aionion kolasis" which is translated this way in these Bibles:

"And these shall go away into age-abiding CORRECTION" -Rotherham's Emphasized Bible ..."

OP,it is clear your not concern about this and frankly you need not be.

It is OK not to believe in God it is not a requirement and never has been.

The only way one can believe in God is if God has open the spiritual eyes to whom he chooses to revel himself to.

Jude 1:7 puts an end to this thread, as the Bible itself gives an example of what punishment by eternal fire means.
