Any Explanation? Keep seeing familiar faces, only to find we've never met before...

Re: Any Explanation? Keep seeing familiar faces, only to find we've never met before...
Hi OP! Great thread topic!! I have many, many times been approached by total strangers or newly introduced people who tell me they think they know me from somewhere or that I look very familiar to them.

Most of the time I just smile and politely assure them that we have definitely not met before (at least not in this lifetime or timeline) but it can become uncomfortable when they persist and scan their memories trying to figure out where they know me from. They can be so certain about this that I almost feel like they think I'm lying to them!

This happens so often to me that I know there must be something to it. Maybe I was famous in a past life or something. Who knows!!

Re: Any Explanation? Keep seeing familiar faces, only to find we've never met before...
Until last night I didn't think much about this, but know I am more than stunned. If anyone here has had similar experiences, please respond.

Went to a housewarming party last night for my cousin.

Anyhow, while at the party, I recognized a number of people, YET, when I approached them to say hello, found that we had never met before.

During the course of four hours, this happenned at least a dozen times, although I stopped asking after six or so.

After I got home, I started to recall that over the past few months I have seen the faces of strangers in stores, while away on vacation, and on streets here in NYC that also have seemed familiar. A few times I have actually gone over to a few whose eye contact led me to believe that we HAD met in the past. With this in mind, I couldn't help but think that not persuing a 're-introduction' might be considered a shun...only to then find out that we had no common links that would have made our knowing each other possible.

Are any of you experiencing the same thing?

What explanation can there be to this phenomenon?

It seems bizarre, yet, somewhat 'natural'...if one takes into account some of the stuff we've been reading on threads here.

Of all of the people I have mistakenly said 'hello' to, only one person has ever seemed upset in any way; for some reason she seemed somewhat shocked, then quickly insisted that we had never met even before we could figure any commonalities (my cousin's coworker, last night.) THAT was really strange, as if I have frightened her. BTW, I am a pleasant, soft-spoken female, trim, neat and clean; there should have been no reason for her to seem upset. I am a person who makes eye contact with and smiles at anyone passing me on the street...just about always getting back a similar response.

Any ideas?

I experience the same thing. Sometimes I "know" things about people I randomly encounter. Perhaps rather than "knowing" the person we are "knowing" their soul. I've been reading a fascinating book by Michael Newton who is a hypnotist who specializes in "Life between Lives" regression. He has 3 books; start with "Journey of Souls" if you're interesting.
I enjoy your posts here..

Thanks for the recommendations!

I think I 'know' similar things about random people. I think of it as some sort of 'failsafe' ability, a vibe that allows you to instantaneously read where they're coming from. Although I have never seen an aura, I suppose this is a similar recognition.

Since I posted the thread, I've seen an uptick in these "familiarity" incidents. It's nothing like a deja-vu experience, though; that is to say, I never get that momentary 'rush' of thought, where my mind is trying to place the face to something I have experienced before.

================

But, now it seems to have 'leaked' into other areas of my life. I find myself 'wondering' about moments of time, as if, for a nanosecond, I am re-experiencing that moment, as if it is a time-slip.

I'm not sure if I can explain it any clearer, sorry. It's as if, when I see, read, or, hear something, at that moment, I feel as if the timeframe is not the present, but, something from the past. Again, this is not deju-vu. as I have experienced it before. For that fleeting moment, I find myself 'questioning' that this is from today. I never perceive it as a break from reality, although it certainly appears as if this is happening, for that nano-cesond in time.

Ha! I guess this sounds a bit crazy. No drugs and stuff in my system; perfectly healthy.

Perhaps it's just my mind in hyper-drive. Maybe my awareness is processing things just a tad later than usual; with my mind registering what it's focused on a moment before my brain has had time to process it fully. Then, by the time I have processed it, something inside me is also recognising the fact that a glitch has occured.

Hmm. Recognitional latency.

1dunno1

Edit update:
I just put the term "recognition latency' into google...I got "about 4,610 results." I guess I'll have to read about this!
