Garlic?
I've been eating garlic in my meals and occasionally raw for a couple of years now and have not been ill. I heard stuff in the past about how garlic may ward off colds and flu and since it tastes pretty good in food and it's nice and cheap I thought to give it a try. I can barely remember the last time I got a cold or similar ailment.

It may sound a little loopy, but I sometimes wonder about the whole garlic and vampire thing. If the superstition is based in the warding off of bad spirits, it could be a reference to common illnesses that may have been percieved as bad spirits.

It may just be coincidence, but I'm inclined to think there's something in it. Could garlic be a preventative to the common cold? Could pharmaceutical companies be dismissive or unwilling to look into this free natural preventative to a virus they've spent millions trying to kill?

Has anyone else noticed this garlics immune boosting effects?

Re: Garlic?
Garlic is loaded with sulphur compounds, like allicin, which are incredibly good for you, but can become a bit anti-social, if you catch my drift.

There are "odourless" garlic capsules to be had, but I don't know if they're any good.

Yeah it works against vampires as well. I have been wearing a garlic necklace to bed every night for about 14 years. No problems with vampires at all here.

Re: Garlic?
Nothing better from garlic ..

Cancer, common cold and flu, antibiotic, blood pressure, cholesterol levels etc ..

It's important to find good garlic, homemade and good seed genetic because it's very big differences ..

We grow organic domestic garlic here and is one of best quality in world, from Chine is cheap but very bad quality ..

Last time when I have flu, common cold or similar was 4-5 years ago00 ..

Personally it's one of best natural medicine but preventive medicine ..

If you want to store food, meat etc garlic is best natural antibacterial ..

If someone in your family have flu you eat and never catch any kind of bacteria, similar if you cat some garlic and leave in your living room atc ..

i also did the above linked experiment and had the same (but slightly more extreme) results.

it's best to treat garlic as a medicine and not an everyday or even occasional thing.
i haven't been sick in at least 2 years now taking D3 occasionally and adding large doses of vit C if something seems like it's going to sneak past my immune system.

garlic is bad for the brain and i haven't eaten it in years. it used to be a main ingredient...i don't miss it and i don't need it. not even for infections.

Re: Garlic?
yes, i agree that the bad spirit thing has to do with its healing properties. its just a way modern medicine looks at things. kind of backwards if you ask me. if we spent all the money they waste on labratories and microscopes and put it all in herbal and ayurvedic stuff...but thats not how this world works.

also, the odor is probably an important part of it, hence the TPTB putting out odorless garlic pills.

Re: Garlic?
Garlic is a great medicinal plant, and the odour wares off, the more you use it, and the bloodstream gets cleaner.

That being said, one must also know that garlic slows down your reactions. Pilots know this, and are recommended not to eat garlic 24 h before flight.

Re: Garlic?
They tested the allicin and found it did nothing but they never tested the whole garlic in digestive tract etc.
Could be other things in it they don't even know about or how they work.
And because of the Evil that runs the world they will never bother to even look.

Re: Garlic?
Yes, absolutely, garlic is so good for fighting colds and flu. Whenever I catch a cold or flu, I go eat at any Korean Restaurant because they use garlic in their food. On top of that, I ask for fresh garlic and they always will bring a dish of freshly sliced garlic for me free of charge. They have so much of it, it's like handing out butter at American restaurants. I can immediately feel the difference the next day after eating garlic. My chest congestion fades or is gone. I feel a lot better and the cold or flu only lasts about 3 days instead of 2 weeks. Another thing that helps is 1,000 mg (2 tablets) of Vitamin C, and also Silver Solution, 1-2 teaspoons a day (brand name "ASAP"). When I use all 3, my colds only lasts about a day or 2. This really does work for me, over and over again. It is not my imagination because it works every time, consistently over the years. I remember before I discovered these 3 miracle items, my colds always got me to stay in bed for 2 weeks because my immune system is much lower than everybody else that I know.

Here it's very commun to use garlic in the food. I love it! =)
5* OP!

Some info (translated):

"Since ancient times it is believed in the benefits that garlic brings to human health. The Egyptian, Indian, Greek and Roman had the vision that garlic contained prophylactic and therapeutic properties. The first to describe the antibacterial effect of garlic was Louis Pasteur. Now recognized scientifically that garlic prevents and treats pathogenic infections, cancer and cardiovascular disease, making it one of the most widely used medicinal herbs in the world."

Re: Garlic?
Hey guys:) I have a pretty monster cold right now and have been sneezing and coughing my ass off all day. I had 2 raw cloves of garlic about 10 minutes ago and seriously, about 80% of my symptoms are gone. No joke. After the first initial burn stopped, my cough just faded. My chest feels almost clear. If you're sick, try it....There is definitely something magical about garlic.

Snopes.Com debunks this. The only disadvantage to a pilot eating garlic before a flight is "stinking" everybody out of the cockpit. chuckle

I eat garlic just about everyday also. Since I have started I don't seem to have a stuffy nose as much. I also have been around some people with colds and stuff and don't seem to catch it. I eat it raw sliced up on top of my food and take the pills 1 a day; more if I have been around someone sick.

Re: Garlic?
Absolutely. Whenever I have a cold I have lots of garlic. Lots of raw garlic or garlic powder, I have been known to go through 4 cans of garlic powder in a week. :)

I went through severe anemia and it was during that period I started craving garlic and chili. My immune system was extremely weak from the anemia, so I suffered every cold imaginable plus a skin infection. I found out that garlic not only cleared up all the sickness and infection, it is also high in iron and eventually mixed with fortified protein powder, cured the anemia. So, garlic probably doesn't affect vampires, but if you were to get sucked on by a vampire, garlic would be a good remedy for the after effect. Nuthin' says "STAY AWAY" like some good strong garlic breath too.

OTHER REMEDIES: Let me also add, I had tonsilitis and swabbed some eucalyptus oil on it and it cleared up the next day.

And recently I started to get visual impairment at the start of a migraine and someone suggested I take feverfew and I took some and did not get a headache. For those who know how awful migraines are you can imagine my extreme happiness and relief. That's all I took, no aspirin or anything.
