Re: Wierd things you have seen in the woods.
Not so much what I have seen but heard. First, some background information . On July 11, 2014, an abandoned car was discovered on a forest service road near Leavenworth WA and was traced to Utah where it was registered to Yannick Chauncey Periou. Periou's mother and sister were contacted by authorities and they shared that he was headed to Canada and had no idea why he would take the detour that he did. On August 11th, a decomposed body was discovered in the Beaver Creek area near Leavenworth, WA by two people driving up the road where the car had been discovered. Forensics determined the remains were Perious's. However, the cause of his death could not be determined. What's particularly interesting and unsettling about this is that 79-year-old Hildegard Hendrickson, a former UofW professor, and mushroom hunter disappeared without a trace on June 8th, 2013 just miles from Periou's resting place. In her case, over 90 searchers scoured the area for days searching for her without success. Her car, parked at the bottom of a trailhead, was unlocked and her purse was sitting in the front seat. Hendrickson was described by a friend this way: “She was not a weak person. She was not a feeble person. She was very vigorous, sharp as a tack, knew how to use a compass, had a walking stick, always carried her water bottle, and was always careful. This was not a careless person. She had knees that bothered her a little bit, but that woman could out-hike a lot of people.” There have been many accounts of Bigfoot sightings in this area. The Native American tribe that lived in the area, the Wenatchi Indians, told stories of Choanitio- the night people which detailed encounters and even a kidnapping by a Sasquatch. Now back to my personal story. I went with a friend hiking up the remote trail where Hildegard Hendrickson disappeared. It was more of a silly adventure than anything else as we weren't thinking we would encounter anything unusual. However, when we got halfway up, we decided to take a large limb and make some tree knocks. Apparently, from reading and watching a couple of documentaries about Bigfoot, it has been speculated that they communicate with each other this way. It wasn't 5 seconds later that we heard 3 distinct tree knocks to the west and 3 more from the east. Needless to say, we hightailed it out of there. I don't think I could ever hike that trail alone.scared

Re: Wierd things you have seen in the woods.
While there is a backstory to this, for the sake of brevity I’ll get to the scary part. I was doing some primitive camping in a state forest in upstate NY while looking for property to buy before they passed the SAFE act. I was with one friend of mine who was kind enough to join me. So we scooped out some decent plots of land before driving down a seasonal road to look for a pull off. Only one freshly cut forest path seemed to be available for public access, all other trails had no trespassing signs. I drive my Jeep into the state forest (which I won’t name at this time), until it dead ends about a quarter mile in. We set up camp and had a tiny fire pit mainly for cooking some mountain house MRE’s.
Longer story short, as I’m mixing the heated MRE, the forest goes completely silent. You know that kind of deafening silence? No bugs...insects...animals. All gone. All of the sudden I hear my friend say, “what the F**k is that!?”. As I turn around I see a a glowing red lighter descending from above the trees into the tall dark pine tree line about 50-75 ft from our camp. Completely silent. As it descended I turned to him and said, “I have no clue what that is”. But I gave him my Kabar and I took my SOG hatchet and was watching for anything out of the ordinary. Out of nowhere, my friend and I see two large GLOWING red eyes peak out from behind a tree about 50ft from our camp. Now keep in mind, these are LARGE red eyes (emanating a deep red glow), inches across with a slight sideways teardrop shape...and it’s watching us, and it doesn’t blink even once. My friend asks if we should move toward it and see what it is. I tell him, HELL NO! Lol.
So these eyes, they watch us for MINUTES...maybe 5 minutes give or take? Every now and then the eyes slink back behind the tree real slow, and peek back out again to watch us. All the while the forest is silent. So I did a test. I take my large maglight and shine it directly at the eyes...no change in color, no movement, no “eyeshine” type flint or color change...AND NO VISIBLE BODY. Just large, unblinking, glowing red eyes. I turn the flashlight off...NO CHANGE. Still glowing a deep red. The eyes slink back behind the tree once more, never to be seen again. The sound returned to the forest.
Being so far from home and having no place to go, we camped for night and left the next morning. We checked the area in the daylight where we believed the creature to be, but found nothing of significance. Believe me, or don’t believe me. It’s your prerogative. But I can assure you this story is 100% true. We told my friends mother and she thinks we were abducted lol. No missing time though, so that’s a plus. Thoughts? Comments? Again, there is a back story (religious in nature). And I’m not a religious person FYI. I will share it if you ask.

Porn man. When I was in 5th grade, me and two of my classmates went hiking in this hill behind his house and we found an old wooden shack. Inside was a bunch of old porn magazines.

I found the same thing when I was about 16. It was an old sack with what must had been over a 100 smut magazines in it. there was also a bag with unopened bear bottles in it.

I suspect now that there are demons who this to lead people away from God and get them trapped into a life of pornography. I mean, think about it, who carries porn and bear into the woods and just leaves it there knowing that kids could find it? If someone is an addict and they repent and want to get rid of their sinful stash, wouldn't they make sure that it was burned or at least put out with the garbage... not taken into the woods for others to find.

Porno mags were always in the woods cause back in the day when there was no internet, teenagers would take the mags into the woods from their parents or whoever. It's not like they are gonna sit in their living room w them

I think every teenager, back in the day, found porno mags in the woods. I'm still perplexed by this. Why in the woods? I remember finding Hustlers and Penthouses in near perfect condition buried under some brush. I just put them in a box, brought them through the front door, and then under the bed they went. So, why were they always in the woods? That to me is creepy.

In the Nicolet national forest. 2003 or 2004.

An orange five-gallon bucket at the base of a giant pine tree.

Said bucket appeared to contain 25-30 empty plastic enema bottles, a worn leather belt that looked to be over five feet long, an electric razor caked in dirt, and a Chilton repair manual from the early 1970's.

Fucking weird indeed.

Re: Wierd things you have seen in the woods.
I am not a cop, but I am a dispatcher actually, and have a lot of experience in the wilderness. As I said, we were hours away from home in a unfamiliar place. Cardinal rule is you never tuck tail and run from a predator, you stand your ground. I had some sharp weapons so I was ready and able to mount a defense. I’ve experienced many strange and paranormal things in my life but this was by far the strangest. I did some research on what it could be and all possible answers are equally unbelievable...mothman, alien, demon, Jersey Devil, Bigfoot...I noticed there seems to be some stories of an association between Bigfoot, red eyes, aliens. As I said there is a religious backstory so I was leaning towards evil entity/demon. FYI I am anti organized religion. I would have brought my gun with me but I didn’t want to risk getting arrested in NY as I am from NJ and there is no firearms reciprocity.

Why would you risk revealing your location and angering a potentially dangerous beast by shining a flashlight at its eyes? (Are you a cop and it's just force of habit?)

Actually, there are many stories of Bigfoot with glowing red eyes.

There seems to be two types of Bigfoot:

1) an animal similar to a bear that leaves tracks, etc
2) a demon that can appear and disappear at will, leave no tracks, etc

Religious backstory: about 1 month before this I had two religious Protestant friends at my PA lake house. We were telling scary stories by the fire next to the forest behind my house. My friend, I’ll call her Kay, brought her boyfriend, I’ll call him Jay. They proceed to ask me if I want to “see them”, as in the “spirits”. I lazily said, “sure, why not”. Kay then proceeds to tell me they can see angels and demons and that once I “do this” they will reveal themselves to me and I can’t take it back. Myself, not being a religious person accepts her offer.
Jay asks if it’s ok if he prays. I said I have no problem with that. He proceeds to play a common church hymn on his cell phone, puts his hand on my shoulder and begins speaking “in tongues” (language of the divine, religious gibberish essentially). The song on the phone is playing...”holy, holy, holy...”...and as the third holy sings out, with him still praying I feel and hear what I can only describe as a thunder sound and rumbling of the earth beneath my feet and in the forest behind my house. M eyes widened and I look directly at Kay and I say, “what the hell was that?” Kay says matter of factly, “you know what that was”.
At this point I’m freaked out...I’m starting to believe a little more than I did earlier. Then...it happened again...”holy, holy, holy”...and the earth rumbled beneath my feet and a sound of thunder filled the night air. So after this is all said and done she tells me there are demons watching us from the forest and and angel on my roof. She says they will reveal themselves when they see fit.
1 month later glowing red light from the sky and glowing red eyes in the forest.

EVEN ACTER ALL THAT...another friend and I tried to replicate the experience at my lake house. Nothing happened to our disappointment. That is until the night drive home to NJ. As we drive away speaking of our dissapointment in not being able to replicate the rumbling, we turn the radio on and there...it...is...”holy, holy, holy...”

Actually, there are many stories of Bigfoot with glowing red eyes.

There seems to be two types of Bigfoot:

1) an animal similar to a bear that leaves tracks, etc
2) a demon that can appear and disappear at will, leave no tracks, etc

I did lots of research trying to identify what I saw, and I definitely came across some references to Bigfoot with big red eyes and even a few that attempted to connect Bigfoot to some alien species. Pretty out the stuff, but if you’ve ever experienced anything that beggars belief you start entertaining some wild theories lol.

Re: Wierd things you have seen in the woods.
I was driving a car through state forest, many kilometers from civilization.
There were no side roads and apart from the road I was on, nowhere to hide a parked car and yet off in the forest was a guy fully rigged out in perfect Scottish attire and playing the bagpipes. He looked so out of place in the West Australian bush.
I presume he wanted to practice without disturbing anyone but I would love to know why he had to go so far into the middle of nowhere and how he got there without a car.
