Got a summons to appear in court for peace bond? Anyone been through this before?
So to make a long story short there is this person that has a personal vendetta against me and has for a long time now...

We got into an altercation at a bar a few months ago. I had found out that this person was telling people in our town really nasty things about me and I told this person to keep my name out of their mouth... I turned around and walked away and by that time this person punched me in the head five times and made me drop to the floor.

This person then went around saying that they beat me up so bad that I was bleeding all over the place and convulsing on the floor (was not true, but whatever I let it slide and didn't do anything about it).
I don't go running to the cops to solve every little problem of mine.

I then saw this person a few weeks after the incident.. I was minding my business with another friend of mine and this person said to me "How did my fist feel against your face?" my friend got really angry and started fighting with this person who also fought back. a bunch of hair pulling and ridiculousness insued and it was over within about 5 minutes.. Really silly immature stuff here folks.. I am not proud of it.

I then get a knock at my door by a Police Officer serving me a Summons to Appear next week for what I believe to be a peace bond as this person says she fears me and my friends.. What a joke. This person has instigated the entire thing and is now serving me with a peace bond?

I do not have a criminal record at all so this is retarded. I do know that I have to appear but should I get a lawyer? Should I attempt to make this a mutual peace bond or is there way to much involved with this? Should I sign it and just get it over with or what? I feel as though this person has a personal vendetta against me and is trying to use the system to get back at me, even though this person instigated the entire affair. I don't really have time for this in my life so would like to get it over and done with and move on with my life.

I know this is retarded, but I really am not familiar with this type of thing and could use some advice.

you can either GET A LAWYER or DO IT INTERNET STYLE!!!!

Since you came here and not to a lawyer, here is HOW TO WIN IN COURT INTERNET STYLE!!!!

* Moonwalk into court, say HEY GOOBER to the judge

* Tell them not to spell your name in capital letters, because you know what that means

* complain about any flags with gold fringes on them

* dress up as a pirate because it's admiralty court

* tell them they don't have jurisdiction because you are a sovereign

* if they try any of that lawyer jibber jabber like saying "we will put you in jail for contempt of court!!!", stick your fingers in your ears and say LA LA LA because it doesn't count if you don't hear it

* "IF" you lose the court case, immediately start yelling out that you want a do-over.

If you don't go to court - chances are the bond will be granted. You will have to make sure that you don't end up in the same place - and if you see her you will have to leave the area. If she is granted the bond - it will give her a basis for creating bullshit drama that might get you into trouble. If I was you - I would go to court and tell the judge exactly what happened. Know the dates - locations - bring any witnesses who can testify on your behalf. If you are actively not trying to have contact - and it was just an isolated incident, bet she won't get it.

I'm not familiar with what a "Peace bond" is, but it sounds to be the equivilent of what would be a "restraining order" here in the US.

I'd get a lawyer...and then make sure you dont go anywhere near where this person tends to hang out anymore. Sounds like he/she has mental problems.

Good luck!
