The "official" numbers are only manipulated to make it seem low for political reasons. You can take any economic scenario and spin it a certain way, negative or positive, if you have your economic cronies develop a complicated algorithm. The bottom line is, look at food prices. My frozen pizzas have gone up 35% the past 2yrs. Regardless of what Obama's economic minions say, my inflation rate has been around 35% Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6049269 And true unemployment is about 25% or more. |

Quoting: Borday yes..I can see they're assholes! Thank Ben Bernanke for it The Fed deliberately created inflation in order to accomplish two stated goals 1) support "asset prices" i.e. price of commercial real estate and overpriced housing on the bank balance sheets. The "reasoning" behind this is that if the price of everything could be sufficiently inflated, then the prices would return to 2007 bubble levels, and the banks wouldn't be forced to revalue the crap in their portfolios Commercial real estate developers who overwhelmingly voted for Obama, also have been beneficiaries of this plan. If you notice, in your town, there may be dozens, even hundreds of vacant commercial spaces available for lease, but the prices they want are what they were at the height of the market. "asset prices" also includes stocks and commodities, and the wall street casino has overwhelmingly benefited from the surge in commodity and stock prices since March 2009 when these policies began. Thank Obama and the Fed for your higher cost of living... 2) The government has wanted lower wages for workers. However, it is unpopular to force pay cuts. The other way to achieve the same end is to create price inflation, which inflates rent energy, food, and accomplishes the same end without the humiliation of a wage cut. How convenient for them that the same policy of in effect cutting wages also supports the "assets" of their large donor base. Yes, they did this on purpose. |

It is true.....Obama and Bernanke think they can INFLATE AWAY the debt. That is part of the ongoing plan. What ALSO then must figure into that equation....is SOMEWHERE along the line....a DOLLAR DEVALUATION to compensate for the OVER INFLATED UNSUSTAINABLE PRICES. :wreckcrew: |

Great deals. Oh, and I have learned to buy things by the ounce, like if I pick up a package, and I only get 2oz of food for a dollar, yet I can buy another food, and get 4-6oz for a dollar, I skip the 2oz product. Usually it's some overpriced snack or diet food, and I am looking to fill me and my kids up with more than air. We are not on a diet. |

I mean, I know cheap food can be very fattening, but when does the economy finally hit them in the waist-line, if ever? Quoting: SaintIn People will eat cheaper and cheaper food as things get worse. You will only see soup lines and rib cages on people if the USA falls into a DEEP DEPRESSION. ...and that IS possible when the EURO collapses. Odds are though....EUROPE and the USA will do everything possible to prevent that from happening. They MAY or MAY NOT succeed. This is uncharted territory. One thing is certain though....Obama must go for the USA to have a chance of avoiding that Depression. He has contributed to this mess....and made it MUCH WORSE than it was when he took office. I even used a coupon, and bought a few bogo, and other sale items. My total came to 35 dollars and change for two canvas bags full. At the bottom of the receipt it shows savings, from the sales, coupons and buy one get one deals. The savings was 24.00. So the total without any savings for the little bit I bought retailed for 60 dollars. Unreal. |

Instead of raising the price they reduced weight, making unit per weight pricier. And forcing you to buy more of it. The 8 oz yogurt went down to 6oz. Any smaller and we will purchase it in a pre-filled spoon. |

I do not see how they possibly could include food and not say inflation is significant. Is it a different inflationary measure that you are talking about or is this it? Thanks. |

Quoting: Dr Doom Little Debbie's, cokes, cookies, ice cream... these types of treats will be the first left off the shopping list if food inflates to the point only the necessities can be bought. . How right you are. My Dad was in route sales back in the early '70s selling chips and snacks, and when the recession hit back then his sales fell through the floor. That's when Mom had to go out and get a job and I remember them going to the bank to skip a couple of mortgage payments. This time around will be no different, of this I am certain. |
