Declawing Cats Pisses Me Off! | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 5547476 United States 11/17/2011 05:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | a family member is about to get her kitten declawed (they wanted to do it months ago but the cat has to be at least six months) even though i told her it was not a good thing to do. she insists on talking to me about it anyway, as if i approve. Quoting: peacerebelgirl i love animals (i'm an abolitionist vegan) and have had pets in the past. i'm not sure if i could 'own' more animals because i'm not sure it's right. pets are more for the enjoyment/company of humans than for the animals. obviously there are a lot of animals that need rescued (don't get me started on breeding) but this declawing, docking, clipping, vaccinating, chipping is sick domestication of animals. Maybe she can get her kitten to wear those cute little claw covers instead? |

A User ID: 1492295 United States 11/17/2011 05:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | she is more concerned about her furniture than the well-being of the kitten. humans do the dumbest things. how would they feel if someone pulled out their finger and toe nails? I am against it too op. I feel that they need their claws in case they get outside and have to defend themselves...and yes to me it is horrible to do. People say they do it to protect thier furniture. That pisses me off cause you can teach your cat to not scatch the furniture. |

11/17/2011 06:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I would think they're much more likely to be happy, warm and feed in a house somewhere. Have you not had to off some animals because they got distemper, etc? Stuff like that awaits too many animals out there fending for themselves. (OP) User ID: 4520123 United States 11/17/2011 06:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Do you think animals like cats and dogs live longer outside roaming around killing what they can for food and picking up all forms of disease? Quoting: SPUD I would think their much more likely to be happy, warm and feed in a house somewhere. Have you not had to off some animals because they got distemper, etc? Stuff like that awaits too many animals out there fending for themselves. then let's stop breeding them. and spay and neuter the ones who are fecund. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1291849 United States 11/17/2011 06:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's illegal in some areas (and it should be) - just as it should be illegal to cut off your childs fingers at the knuckle, which is the equivalent to declawing a cat. It's totally cruel. Oh and guess what your relatives will do when the kitties stop using the cat box because it hurts their paws to dig in the sand ... they'll turn them into the shelter - ie throw them away. Sick |

Hmmm never thought about it that way...probably cause I don't treat my cats like that. I mean damn my cats even get christmas gifts They are a part of the family and I have spent hours and hours bottle feeding both of my cats when they were kittens. The only thing that is hard is learning to live with a basically wild cat. I have one who is like this. He is a handful...but I would not give him up for anything |

I agree. I cringe whenever I see a dog with a docked tail or clipped ears. That's gotta hurt like hell. Most of the boxers I see where I live have their natural ears and they're adorable. Don't know why anyone would do that to a dog they love. I wouldn't change anything on my little pal. |

Or that domestic cats should not breed? Quoting: Blue Skies i don't see a reason for it when there are zillions of unwanted cats, many who are feral or put down. breeding 'pure' cats sounds a bit eugenics. A User ID: 1492295 United States 11/17/2011 06:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is really not as bad as you say. I have some cats that are declawed and some cats that are not. The declawed ones are only declawed on their front paws and they never go outside. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5396662 Who is it not bad for? you or your cat? Does not matter if it's the front of back. It's still digusting to do to an animal. |
