Also songs, music from all over the planet. It was meant as a representation of all this world. I love physics. It bonds us eternally, it's what makes our computers work, it's what's in my morning cup of coffee, it's the thing that keeps the universe from vanishing due to lack of belief... |

There are currently 6909 living languages. Just because there was a fascination at the time surrounding Sitchin's book, doesn't justify wasting space on the golden record. Akkadian and Sumerian are considered extinct Semitic languages. It's not logical, there had to be a reasom why they did this. Nasa was convinced somehow. Luceo Non Uro |

They're doing their best trying to entertain you, they have to feed their kids, too. :) |

(OP) User ID: 1522782 Canada 11/17/2011 01:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Voyager's Golden Record: Sacrificial dance (Rite of Spring)By Stravinsky The Rite of Spring came in the spring of 1910. Stravinsky writes, "... there arose a picture of a sacred pagan ritual: the wise elders are seated in a circle and are observing the dance before death of the girl whom they are offering as a sacrifice to the god of Spring in order to gain his benevolence. Stravinsky later in life said that it came to him in a dream. Out of all the music up to that time, they decide to pick this. Thats truely fucked up. Even if some other alien being heard this, they wouldn't know the inspiration behind why the music was created. In this case, a human sacrfice, with elders watching a girl dance before she dies. Even if you could convey to them the reasoning behind the music, would you really want to? Why would you want to show any other living creature out there, that we will sacrifice our own in a act of appeasement? Luceo Non Uro |
