With his speech sounding somewhat slurred and labored, Family Radio Stations Inc. founder and chairman Harold Camping sought to address in a recent message why Christ failed to return on Oct. 21 as the Bible teacher had predicted. Camping confessed, after decades of falsely misleading his followers, that he was wrong and regrets his misdeeds. [link to www.christianpost.com] I was glad to see this, he made a mistake, owned it and apologized. Good for him. I hope people can forgive him, everyone screws up sometimes.  |

The only thing he apologized for was for saying that those who did not accept the May 21 belief were not going to be saved. What about everything else? His 'speech' seemed to be very ambiguous at best as well... This does not sound like true, deep repentance friends. Best to stay on guard and watchful. Also, his apology toward the end seemed half-heart because he said "I have been told that I said blah, blah, blah". He didn't own up to it but merely said someone told me I said something I shouldn't have said. Whatever. God knows his heart but if I had given him my life savings (which I didn't but many did), I would at least like to hear a more heart-felt apology. What he had to say did not scream repentance to me but rather someone who was forced to make a statement because he had embarrassed the family radio sponsors. Oh well.... |
