The Soviets were being slaughtered by the Nazis and were invaded left right and center. The Germans had the technological advantage (as today's NATO has) and these poor people had to use rifles against excellent technology. These people died for the protection of their homeland. As we would all do today if we had to.

I have no problem contributing to help others. I give to charities.

I have a problem with government taking away from people and then deciding who to reward with what they have taken. Way to easy for corruption to creep into a system like that. You get crony capitalism that thinks it is communism.

You have just described the fundamental flaw in communism. Like I said in my earlier post... the IDEA of communism is great... but in practice it results in, like you said, the leaders of the "party" taking over for their own benefit and turning it into something like a totalitarianism.
