They do not want to see that they vote in a two party dictatorship with the same agenda, and a police state to enforce that aganda. For if they did there would be one thing left to do. Can someone please explain why the protesters are being demonized on GLP? I've been involved in protests for several years, I attend local protests because I want to voice my concerns like everyone else. I want to downsize our government, get rid of the fed and IRS. We need to cut spending, starting with "defense" spending. I want to withdraw all troops from around the world and rebuild America. I want the bankster bastards who wrote CDS and other fake "vehicles" locked up till they turn to dust. I want Obamacare to be ripped up and completely thrown out, along with the patriot act. Yet I come on here and all I see is everyone saying that the protesters are all jobless hippie commies. Instead of being armchair warriors, take advantage of this chance to get your voice heard. If the commies really did hijack the movement, don't alienate the ones who go to fight for liberty. Why not take the damn thing back? Am I the only person on this site that wants the things I mentioned above? Am I a commie because I believe the government has overstepped it's bounds and usurped our rights? I work a 40 hour week, busting my ass to make a living and I find the time to be an activist, yet people want to stereotype the protestors as jobless hippies who want to start riots. I feel like I have stepped into the twilight zone. When are we expected to get off our butts and go do something about the fleecing? Personally, I don't care what the name of the protest is. It's a chance for me to get my voice heard and do something, it's better than sitting around bitching about nothing being done. Don't bang the ban ! User ID: 5551820 Belgium 11/17/2011 09:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A simple post about 'free speech' was the cause of a temporarily ban. It was something like this : "Limiting free speech is so unamerical". So, i decided not to use my right of free speech concerning OWS, until i've heard the 'anti-OWS'-opinions. Until now, i am not impressed, to be honest. Maybe there should be an extra option with a list of all the bans and an explanation why a ban was being enforced. In this way, we will understand what kind of 'shocking USA'-opinions are causing so many bans. |

Patronage in ancient Rome From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from Client (ancient Rome)) Jump to: navigation, search Patronage (clientela) was the distinctive relationship in ancient Roman society between the patronus (plural patroni, "patron") and his client (cliens, plural clientes). The relationship was hierarchical, but obligations were mutual. The patronus was the protector, sponsor, and benefactor of the client. Benefits a patron might confer include legal representation in court, loans of money, influencing business deals or marriages, and supporting a client's candidacy for political office or a priesthood. In return, the client was expected to offer his services to his patron as needed. A patron and client might hold the same social rank, but the former would possess greater wealth, power, or prestige that enabled him to help or do favors for the client. The relationship was not a discrete unit, but a network, as a patronus might himself be obligated to someone of higher status or greater power, and a cliens might have more than one patron, whose interests could come into conflict. While the Roman familia ("family," but more broadly the "household") was the building block of society, interlocking networks of patronage created highly complex social bonds.[1] Although one of the major spheres of activity within patron-client relations was the law courts, clientela was not itself a legal contract; the pressures to uphold one's obligations were moral, founded on the quality of fides, "trust," and the mos maiorum, "ancestral custom."[2] Patronage was believed by the Romans to have been invented by Romulus and hence to date to the very founding of Rome. In the earliest periods, patricians would have served as patrons; both patricius, "patrician," and patronus are related to the Latin word pater, "father," in this sense symbolically, indicating the patriarchal nature of Roman society. When a slave was manumitted, the former owner became his or her patron. The freedman or freedwoman had social obligations to the patron, which might involve campaigning on his behalf if he ran for election, doing requested jobs or errands, or continuing a sexual relationship that began in servitude. In return, the patron was expected to ensure a certain degree of material security for his client. Allowing one's clients to become destitute or entangled in unjust legal proceedings would reflect poorly on the patron and diminish his prestige. ... They already pay more than their share of in taxes. These protesters are asking for equality? Equality my ass. How is it equality when one group of people pay 10% tax and another group has to pay 50% tax? Even should have to pay the same percentage. That's equality. Look at the bottom of all these fucking boards. OWS is all about communism. News flash assholes. Communism is bad. Ask anybody who actually came from a communist country. Check your figures... The Bushy taxcuts to the rich meant that - OH NO they DON'T pay their fare share. But I agree that they SHOULD pay equally. It's far from being a communist movement... It's about fairness and justice, especially in business practices that are chewing up the DOERS and spitting them out. The GREED is the thing man... seriously. Oh, you mean those that 0bama and the democrats reinstated? LOL IDIOT! Aren't you aware that democrats are some of the richest around. Pelosi has made a gazillion dollars since she's been in office - same with Maxine Waters. Charlie Rangel too. Did you know that Jane Harman was the richest congress person? Hedge Fund Analyst User ID: 5618673 United Kingdom 11/21/2011 06:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For all you uninitiated, here is a rough guide to the current Basic Western Economy model. The money we have is created from debt. You've all watched the vids. It's a system that works as long as trust is involved. We have to keep money flowing from hand to hand or else people will starve. This has worked OK for 300 years and kept the majority of us housed and fed. We should think of this system as a living organism. It has to breathe for it to work. Over time, economies grow in size while business injects value into your cities. When too much money is in the system, a collapse will occur and we all suffer for a while until we can recover. Currently, some clever Stock Market whizz kids have found ways of sapping huge amounts of liquid assets from the heart of the system. They have become super rich overnight at our expense. In some cases they are hoarding the money and using it as leverage to attempt economic takeovers. This has caused sections of the economy to stagnate. In the past, a boom-bust cycle would have reset the system but the practice of "short selling" and bad-bond packaging has not been prevented. The BIS, World Bank etc won't release any more money because they know it will be sapped away in an instant. They can't initiate a system reset while the Hedge funders are still holding on to so much cash. The Elite don't need cash. They can trade property, art and business. We are now in a situation where we have all the gadgets, houses, cars and food but the liquid money has been stashed away by Hedge Fund managers and their investors. They only way to resolve the issue is to devalue all the currencies so the rich Whizz kids will try and buy out. These guys aren't giving up. They move their offices as close to the Stock Exchanges to gain milliseconds of advantage over their competitors. [link to www.virginia.edu] It's a game of stalemate now. The protesters know this. They know that the only way to survive is to stick together and not to rely on increasingly unpredictable Fiat Currency. If you're not in a credit union you should join one soon. |
