It's in Huntsville, Texas. Do you have any advice for me? Quoting: midisandy Yea, don't go. Stay home and pray for them instead if you really want to help them. Picketing doesn't work, in fact it only makes matters worse, it increasing the suffering and anxiety of the women that are going there. How does this benefit anyone? It might make YOU feel better thinking that you did something, but you really didn't do anything at all. You want to make a difference, then walk up to one of the women headed into the clinic for an abortion. Introduce yourself and ask her if there is anyway you can help her, offer to pray with her or other help that you can offer to her. Offering to help in practical ways MIGHT actually benefit someone. Standing there with a stupid sign accomplishes NOTHING but adding to an already hostile, stressful and negative environment. Sorry......that's really how I feel about it. |

I am going with 2 others (both men) and we will be passing out info on where the women can get "help" to keep their babies. There is absolutely no way I would condemn anyone for such difficult decisions. I lost a child when I was 6 months pregnant and know the pain of losing one's baby. |

Sure it is a free country and you can do what you want but why are you doing it? The majority of women who will be in the planned parenthood aren't there for abortions. They are there for the health services most likely because they have crap medical coverage or none at all. They do a lot more than abortions at planned parenthood. |

I work for social services in a large poor urban area let me tell you, I work with kids on a daily basis who have been in some very bad abuse situations I have seen the worst of the worst. Come to work with me for one day and you will learn why abortions are legal. Some people are never meant to be parents. I believe in the Kingdom of God, and I'm waiting on that to resolve all of the problems in this world, including abortion. That's how I take my stand. In the meantime, I do my best to help those I come into contact with by sharing my faith in Jesus Christ, and any other form of help that I"m personally able to give. It's your decision, and you have to do whatever you feel led to do. But, if it were me, and I wanted to go there, I'd just sit in my car and pray for the women who walk through the door, without adding to their grief in any way. Perhaps I'm wrong, and handing out tracts is the right thing to do. I don't know because I'm not God. But, I feel in my heart that prayer would be more effective. I think your original post, where you used the word "Picket" set off alot of red flags, and rightfully so. At any rate, I hope your day is fruitful and that you can actually help someone. |

However, the scripture in James Chapter 2 tells us that "faith without works is dead". Is it enough to pray for someone to be warm and not give them a coat; or to pray for them to be filled and not give them something to eat? Shouldn't we pray for them and give them actual help also? Picketing is not offering help, it's actually doing the opposite. I'd suggest going back and changing the wording to a more accurate description of what you plan on doing there because you're getting responses based on what you wrote.
