You would of thought the army would know what a bomb looked like.

No link yet but the local news said the bomb squad has given the ok to return to the building. No word on what they did with the device.

I am sorry, but I am laughing! ...we have an army and reservists to PROTECT us...what are they protect us from...they are to protect us from bombs...where do the reservists keep their gear...in an "army reserve center"...are there reservists in the Orlando army reserve center...no, they have been scared out by a possible bomb!

It kind of reminds me of the sick humor I have...when I laugh if I hear that a fire station burns down...what in the hell!?!

Don't get me wrong - I don't want anybody to get hurt and I do respect the jobs and duties those men and women carry out...it is just the irony of the situation...like I said...a fire station burning down! How the hell did a bomb possibly get in the army reservist center in Orlando?!?!

Adding to what I posted...said in humor...If they can't guard their own damned building...how the hell are they going to protect other peoples' buildings???

The average reservist is not qualified to handle bombs, they don't know any more about them than you or I. I am however, surprised they didn't have the military bomb squad handle it.

This post caught my eye as I am from Orlando (been trying to get back for 10 years)
The OPD bomb squad is one of the best in the nation. They might not be trained to the level of a U.S. Mil. ordinance disposal unit (but probably are!) but with a possible live device I would bet my life on their abilities over the "weekend warriors" and I would also bet there is not an ODU close enough to react in the time available.
I know a former senior officer on the OPD bomb squad (most of my life he lived next to my grandparents) and I can tell you they are consummate professionals.

I am sure you are correct on all counts. I know the military used to have an EOD unit near me but it was shipped to another base and never replaced. It used to be the one that was called in when there was a situation anywhere in cfl.

Agreed, best option..however time might been of the essence upon initial examination they might have felt it was on a timer or remote deto.
If that was the case they might have determined it was "move it or lose it"
