I hate to sound totally ignorant, but don't we have the technology to send a missile up to intercept an out-of-control satellite so that it doesn't crash land?

Yes we do, the Navy shot one down a couple of months ago, in a show they could do it, and because it failed to reach orbit properly. It was a spy satellite too. :-)

Why is this the only footage of this and from an amateur on the 15th?

You would think NASA or others would have better footage of this and if so then why is not being shown like this?
Let me touch it.

What day is this thing supposed to come down? This Friday is it?

Added: Here's a link to track the satellite. Came from another thread on this same topic last week:

Nasa did an upgate today they say the satellite was 120 miles above the Earth and due to impact on Friday. NASA will issue further updates 24 hours before re-entry, then at 12, six and two hours before re-entry.

They say the orbit puts its path between the latitudes of 57 degrees north and south. Mainland Britain lies between 50 and 60 degrees North. The satellite spends more time at higher latitudes, so there is a slightly higher risk in those regions.
