Re: Spiritual Preparedness - simple practices and meditations to increase self-awareness
A real life event which illustrates the power of conscious awareness beyond the physical.

[link to delightmakers.com]

Excerpt:-

So, how after Anthony’s death, did the reserve’s elephants — grazing miles away in distant parts of the park — know?

“A good man died suddenly,” says Rabbi Leila Gal Berner, Ph.D., “and from miles and miles away, two herds of elephants, sensing that they had lost a beloved human friend, moved in a solemn, almost ‘funereal’ procession to make a call on the bereaved family at the deceased man’s home.”

“If there ever were a time, when we can truly sense the wondrous ‘interconnectedness of all beings,’ it is when we reflect on the elephants of Thula Thula. A man’s heart’s stops, and hundreds of elephants’ hearts are grieving. This man’s oh-so-abundantly loving heart offered healing to these elephants, and now, they came to pay loving homage to their friend.”

An interesting article at Viewzone on the topic of 'where am I'? in terms of where consciousness is located in the brain:-

Re: Spiritual Preparedness - simple practices and meditations to increase self-awareness
I am going to post simple, practical suggestions of how to maintain (or be able to keep returning to) spiritual awareness amidst the chaos of the everyday tasks and challenges of modern day life. I will endeavour to post 2 or 3 practical tips per week, so new readers be sure to read earlier posts.

We know a lot about being human and the physical aspects that go along with that, but how much do we really know about 'being'? How often are we actually living the present moment, right here and now and not trapped in traumas/joys of the past or fantasies/concerns of the future?

»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
The simple technique for today is to take some moments to become aware of where you think the energy of 'you' sits within your body. When you communicate with another person, where is it you 'tune in' to when you speak with them? When you look at a pet, where does your attention go?

Many say they feel themselves to be in the heart region of the body or the solar plexus and of course there is energy in those areas too, but when we really become aware of where 'I' reside, it is behind the eyes, centre forehead and this is where we look when we communicate with each other. This is where we look at a pet when we spend time with it too. Oftentimes we put our foreheads together with loved ones and favoured pets. This is where consciousness sits and from that point emotions and energy spread throughout the physical body and beyond into the atmosphere.

Building awareness of this and coming back to 'being' that energy right here and right now looking out from the eyes is a really good place to start. When communicating with others, notice how their energy and personality radiates from their head and eye area.

The pineal gland sits directly centre of the head - sometimes this is referred to as 'the seat of the Soul'. The 'third eye' is another term you have probably come across. The eyes are said to be the windows of the soul. The brain is not consciousness, it is more like a state of the art computer - the pineal gland is where consciousness sits, where soul meets matter - the control room.

Please feel free to share your own experiences here too. :)

Re: Spiritual Preparedness - simple practices and meditations to increase self-awareness
I have a question. Ok I been meditating on & off for a year now.

When in a relaxed state this force is pushing against my back, pushing my head to the ground. When I try to resist & stay in the lotus position, I feel this thick energy coming up my spine, it felt like trying to suck up a thick milkshake using a little straw.

The force usually wins and I find myself sitting in a lotus position with my head resting on my hands on the ground. When in that position the energy tries to go up my spine but it's really painful.

I try to resist this energy but there is no beating it, I can only handle so much of the discomfort.

So I heard this energy is a snake, does it have a consciousness? because the thing is very persistent.

Also I visioned a cartoon version of this snake rising up from flames during meditation acting like I should worship it. I felt like I was about too, but then I said that I only worshiped "The Father" and he has no form especially a snake.

So in meditation, do we have a choice in choosing the right path, in which we worship the Snake or The Father.

I had an awakening last year and felt connected to Mother Nature, and The Father. Felt the love and took away all my fears for a month. Now the medical community labeled me as bipolar.

Funny thing that awakening did, it showed me all the things that your good at then takes it away from you. The urges that I had when the awakening happened are slowly coming back to me.

Also does this snake make your arms rise and your head tilt back with the energy flowing rapidly to your head? This happened to me when I decided to do a stand up meditation. My whole body was paralyzed with the energy going to my head. It was scary, thought I was going to die, told whoever was doing this to me to let me go. It didn't want to let me go, thought my head was going to explode. After awhile I said mercy and the force finally let me go.

So does The Father and the Snake share the same energy inside of us?

Is this snake a negative energy?

I just want to get closer to the Father. I gave up meditation about half a year ago because something was strangling in my lucid dream. Recently the urge to get close to The Father came back to me. I didn't really want to meditate again, then I felt like he sent me an article about meditating and raising our consciousness. Reading the article made me feel joy about giving it another go. Hope my faith is up to the task.

Thank you for reading. I'm still in the process of learning all this stuff.

thx again, love to all

Re: Spiritual Preparedness - simple practices and meditations to increase self-awareness
It may be helpful for you to stop conceptualizating a snake with regards to this energy. Snakes in our culture tend to carry with them a negative connotation (fright/fear/etc). Consider that discomfort is not always indicative of negativity. Conceptualize a woman giving birth. There is discomfort inherent in the process, but it leads to something beautiful.

I am famililar with the end result but I did not go through this process by practicing traditional meditation techniques so I can't really comment from that paritcular vantage point. Perhaps someone else can chime in and speak to their experience.

From what I gather your intuition is guiding you in a particular direction and you should listen to it. thumbs

Interesting site thanks for sharing. The soul and body are deeply connected, the body being a kind of chariot for the soul to ride in and experience the material world as well as express. Over time we lost soul conscious awareness and became body conscious - out of sync. Chakra work is a great way to reclaim the balance of being a soul in a body, incorporeal master of the corporeal.

Re: Spiritual Preparedness - simple practices and meditations to increase self-awareness
Today I am going to share a practical exercise to learn more about just how many identities we invest in every day of our lives.

On a piece of paper make the heading 'I' and underneath list all the positive non-physical qualities you have; I'll start off with a few:-

'I' =

Conscience
Compassion
Empathy
Grace
Integrity
Awareness of self
Unchanging/Eternal
Observer
Peace
Gratitude
Understanding
Patience/Tolerance
Acceptance
Love
Courage
Forgiveness
Creative expression
authentic passion/vocation....
.........

Now make a list of all the labels attached to you the human identity, we will refer to these as little i's:-

i - the name
i - the gender
i - the race
i - the age/generation
i - the beautiful/ugly
i - the fat/thin
i - the daughter/son
i - the religion
i - the student
i - the friend
i - the career
i - the wife/husband
i - the parent
i - the rich/poor person
i - the young/old
i - the blonde/redhead/brunette woman
i - the bald/grey man
i - the VIP business man-/corporate wife
i - the politician
i - the carnivore/vegetarian
etc etc

attached to these little i's is a lot of body conscious ego and many negative emotions, especially when one of these deeply ingrained identities feels threatened:-

Fear, inappropriate anger/rage, blame, projection, greed, insecurity, jealousy, hatred etc etc

The little i's are all the things we invest in when stuck in body conscious awareness, they are temporary and transient investments which cannot satisfy us in themselves. We juggle these hats we wear, switching quickly from one little identity to the next generating plenty of negative emotional dust as we go and leaving little or no time to tune in to our eternal nature or to just 'be'.

If we draw a large bubble on the paper and write in all the personal little i's we have, how much room is left in the bubble for the Real 'I'? For most of us, not very much space is left for 'Real I' awareness and so we need to make a conscious effort to make this space for our true Identity to recover.

Of course we can't just throw in the towel and go and live in a monastery in the mountains - we need to learn to still live in the present day world but as much as possible to retain our real Identity of being a soul living in a body of matter. Even though others still identify us by the little i's they see, we no longer (continuously) view ourselves as such or others, and with time and practice more and more of the positive qualities listed under 'I' start to manifest in myself and those around me - this is a very worthwhile investment and it cannot be taken away.

In the words of Bill Hicks 'It's just a ride'.
 Quoting: Pharista

I very much like this exercise so I'll stop here reading the thread. I'm bookmarking it though because I think I'll read from it every day.

So, just letting you know how much I appreciate it and this feels so good.....like soft and gentle. I like it! And want to thank Qarley for pointing me here.

Question for the women on this thread:

Have you ever heard of the concept of listening to the wind? It has been said that every woman has a direction, and when the wind flows from that direction the spiritual odds shift to her favor. The womb of the woman catches the intent of the wind and aligns her with the spirit.

This is her moment of opportunity. She can accomplish the unthinkable when the wind blows in her favor.

What do you ladies think about this?
The engravings translate to "This space intentionally left blank."

The prayer is inscribed in an ancient script, rarely used today. It seems to be a philippic against small insects, absent-mindedness, and the picking up and dropping of small objects.

The gate is open; through it you can see a desolation, with a pile of mangled bodies in one corner. Thousands of voices, lamenting some hideous fate, can be heard.
The way through the gate is barred by evil spirits, who jeer at your attempts to pass.

This really caught my attention because I feel the wind is my best friend. I never shared this with anyone before but it's true.

And this summer, when it was so hot here (we had about a month of drought), I had a cool, little breeze when I walked. This happened even though the wind wasn't blowing the leaves on trees, etc. I didn't really know what to think of it except it made me feel special.

So, I"ll pay attention about the direction of the wind from now on. Thanks for bringing it to my attention so I can focus on it.

Btw, I've run across your posts in other threads and I know how you find your power places and use them so again, thank you for this tip.

The way through the gate is barred by evil spirits, who jeer at your attempts to pass.

eh. Things work faster when they are decentralized...to a point.

Besides...you should start the thread. I don't want to look like I'm trying to pimp out the wind to all you ladies.

I'd like to avoid further debris and bugs. ;)
