Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1556901 YES!!!! the vast majority of thefts are NOT random, but from someone that has been in the house or hangs out with family and has been to the house, or knows you via a family member or mutual friend... Was there forced entry? 10 minutes is bloody fast to accomplish all that. |

Kind courtesy of the Police - the only people ever to enter my home with loaded firearms and unfriendly attitudes. Sorry this had to happen to you, OP. May the perpetrators get what they deserve. Peace. |

At first do expect to be suspicious of everyone who you do not know in the neighborhood. Suddenly you will be keenly aware of all of these 'new' vehicles. Most of them have always been there, now you are just very aware. Do NOT be afraid to talk to your neighbors. If you see something that makes you worry about the safety in the neighborhood DO talk to your neighbor. EXAMPLE: You will suddenly be very aware of Fed-X and similar deliveries on the street. DO talk to the neighbor who is getting deliveries. Explain to them that due to the recent robbery you are more aware of 'stuff' going on and you want to know if it is normal for them to get regular type deliverers, this way you can ease your mind. Most people will be understanding that you are 'gun-shy' about the whole matter, so they will assure you. I can't get back the feeling of being safe in my own home either. I lost a home in a tornado two years ago. Quoting: GLP Angel My pets were alive and well thank goodness. :red_heart::red_heart::red_heart::red_heart::red_heart::red_heart::red_heart::red_heart::red_heart::red_heart::red_heart::red_heart::red_heart::red_heart::red_heart: Glad your sweet pets were unharmed, not to mention your family. My husband's 18 year old niece had her home broken into on Friday night, plus attempted rape on top of stealing her purse and laptop. With her 2 year old daughter in the room. This kind of thing will be happening more and more as the economy continues to tank. There are soulless people out there as well as the simply desperate ones. Check local pawn shops for your jewelry...it helps if you have any pictures. Pawn shop owners do NOT want to get in trouble with the law and will go out of their way to turn in crooks. We have to take the stance of taking care of ourselves and not relying on anyone, like the police, to protect us... |
