Police fire Taser, man falls off balcony

The man was screaming and yelling obscenities at police, according to residents who had gone downstairs to watch the scene unfold after the fire alarm went off.

The man was straddling the cement ledge and threatening to jump, residents said. Firefighters and EMS were also on the scene.

The Emergency Task Force was called for assistance. A negotiator tried to coax the man away from the ledge for about four hours.

When police fired the Taser, the fourth floor neighbour heard a “zap” and a “commotion,” she said. She returned to her balcony and saw the man on the ground below, surrounded by emergency officials.

Cops try for many hours to keep an idiot from jumping 30 feet in what he admits is an attempt to kill himself, and then he in fact jumps that distance, and it is somehow the cop's fault?

It says that no one is sure if he "jumped" or not, but the press video clearly shows that he was coiled and ready to jump before he 'exited' the ledge...

I don't blame the cops, I just see a confluence of idiocy.

They hit him from behind while he was smoking a cigarette but this shit is WILDLY mislabelled, he was PERFECTLY safe where he was to be tazed, he DELIBERATELY ran and jumped off the balcony.

Police were not at fault here.
