Peace *Oh, most important: There was, however, no immediate report of any loss of life or property.* Picturesque Gangtok, capital of Sikkim, is completely cut-off from all sides by road due to widespread landslides. Darjeeling, where i spent my childhood, is dark due to power outage. Indian army has been engaged. Sikkim Manipal University (11 Km down from Gangtok) student residences have collapsed. Miraculously nobody has been hurt because students were out playing on the fields. Hopefully the modest, one of the most modern states of India will be saved by blessings of Budhha who they worship and follow devoutly. The Sikkimeese people are one of the best in the world: humble, helpful and ever smiling, they have created one of the most crime-free and cleanest places in the country. |
