Do not divert your love from visible things, But go on loving what is simple and ordinary; animals and things and flowers, and keep the balance true -Rilke The day is coming when a single carrot, freshly observed, will set off a revolution. (Paul Cezanne) I never had any other desire so strong, and so like covetousness, as that . . . I might be master at last of a small house and a large garden, with very moderate conveniences joined to them, and there dedicate the remainder of my life to the culture of them and the study of nature. Abraham Cowley Exclusiveness in a garden is a mistake as great as it is in society. Alfred Austin 10 Show me your garden and I shall tell you what you are. Alfred Austin 12 The first gatherings of the garden in May of salads, radishes and herbs made me feel like a mother about her baby - how could anything so beautiful be mine. And this emotion of wonder filled me for each vegetable as it was gathered every year. There is nothing that is comparable to it, as satisfactory or as thrilling, as gathering the vegetables one has grown. Alice B. Toklas CABBAGE, n. A familiar kitchen-garden vegetable about as large and wise as a man's head. Ambrose Bierce Source: The Devil's Dictionary by Ambrose Bierce 25 Gardens, scholars say, are the first sign of commitment to a community. When people plant corn they are saying, let's stay here. We are made of the stars. We are completely cosmic. I recently had an incredible ayahuaska experience during which I was internally making the question 'Who am I , why am I here? what is my potential...', and at some moment, I saw myself lying (floating...) on my back, and two beings on either side of me. I was looking at the sky above me and they were showing me the stars and planets up above me. Then one, the one on the left, just lifted both his hands up and like he collected all the universe, stars, planets, the space in between the all and the nothing pushed together between his hands, about half a meter in length, held it all above my body, looked at me and then gently placed it inside me in the region of my belly, heart, breasts. then he just looked at me again and smiled. Its was incredible! It was so clear what they were showing me! That we have EVERYTHING inside of us, literally and physically! Children of the Earth and of the Stars we are Indeed! not all, but most...... Peace |
