Anonymous Coward User ID: 1546123 Canada 09/12/2011 05:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That list of preachers was a doozy. Jesus would have had a field day with their money-grubbing. While we're on the subject, this karma thing has destroyed GLP. I don't bother checking out GLP much anymore. People have been stifled; mob mentality rules here. Reminds me of junior high school, everyone trying to fit in and be popular/accepted. Major ick/yuck factor. Barely a thread gets posted without someone coming on and saying "oh, you deserve a karma point just for being you", or some such tripe. Hate GLP karma points. Bad idea; ruined the free spirit of this place. Too much control being exerted on what's being shared. People don't say what they mean anymore; always looking over their shoulder and considering the karma consequences. I'm not one to use expletives in print, but consider one typed here in relation to GLP karma. As for Jesus -- never before or after did a better human live. |

Aside from that, there were several names that you mentioned that have very flawed teachings. Be wary! Quoting: Samarkande What does any of that have to do with the TRUTH of the original inquiry or of the experiment mentioned? The Two Swimmers There were two sole survivors of a shipwreck who were paddling about 2 miles into shore. The first of them said to the other "I am very well versed in rare marine biology...let's discuss it" to which the other replied "No, thank you. I only know one thing" A bit annoyed the first swimmer then stated "Well I am an expert on the subject of water currents and other oceanographic facts." The other swimmer replied "I only know one thing" Now the first swimmer said "Have I mentioned that I am the foremost expert on sea faring vessels and maritime litigation?" "I only know one thing" said the other. As they were just a few feet from land a huge wave overcame both swimmers. The first swimmer started splashing and flailing about as he almost drowned. The other swimmer grabbed his talkative friend and pulled them both safely into shore. "What is the one thing that you know?" sputtered the first swimmer. As he walked away the other one said "I know how to swim." |

Daniel's Seventieth Seven User ID: 1071051 United States 09/12/2011 01:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My husband actually DID the exact same experiment in his teaching classes on several occasions. Quoting: Southern Belle He would then take the exact teaching to his class of Christians only to be mocked, scorned, interrogated, questioned and booed. ONLY THEN would he show the clip (or portion of the book) and reveal that this teaching was taken word for word from the world famous Joel Osteen, Rick Warren... As soon as the class realized that the teaching was "anointed" by a "famous Christian" they ALL...AND I MEAN EVERY ONE OF THEM... immediately backpedaled and changed their criticism of my husbands teaching and then WHOLLY ACCEPTED what he had taught !!! How are so so sure that your husband (and Joel Osteen, etc) are correct? (Perhaps the students knew best.) .) |

But thanks for your input. |

Did your husband eventually retract what he 'taught' and identify it as false teaching? ? |

It was simply to show how people have a very limited capacity to think for themselves and how fervently they will accept the views of the so-called "experts" He teaches Transpersonal Psychology which often brings Spiritual insights into the mix. Have a GREAT day !!! |

SERIOUSLY !!! Quoting: Southern Belle No doubt about it, the christian types around here would be all up in arms thinking the poster was some schmuck arse. Problem being that mainstream versions of that religion generally come from what amounts to Constantine's NWO empire and it's imposition of their notion of a "unified religion" - possibly to make it easier to control the masses heh. In other words Christians would likely not reconize jesus's message if it was spat in their face by jesus himself Last Edited by nomind on 09/12/2011 02:26 PM My Interesting Karma messages: - "You are an idiot. And anybody who has a quote by Bill Belichick as their signature has simply got to be cooler than most folks. (But my husband and I will still take the Vikes over N.E. this year.) I'd be careful with your money OP. Although the Pats have had a bout of bad luck in the playoffs as of late, this years edition looks like it has the potential of the '03 team. Plus this region in general is just a championship magnet as of late. (Sox, Celts, Bruins) Go Jesus! ------ |
