Tropical moisture has been pounding the same areas all day with Monsoon type rains. Many rivers both large and small are in flood stage or near flood stage. [link to www.pennlive.com] Forecasters from the Weather Channel are saying rivers may crest as high as they did when Hurricane Agnes impacted the region in 1972! One of the hardest hit areas in Harrisburg, PA over to Lancaster, PA where a State of Emergency has been declared. [link to www.pennlive.com] Even heard that school children are stranded at schools across the region due to flood waters, not to mention many roads are flooded or have washed out! Hurricanes are not usually a one-day event. The weather will stay wet for months...the rain goes up; the rain comes back down...over and over until it finally gets blown out of the area.

I remember vaguely the day Agnes struck. I was about 8 years old, and it seemed to me that the clouds were so low that I could touch them. This is different. It is brooding and dangerous. 7 times this afternoon the complex in which I was working was struck within a 20 minute period. I consider myself a weather geek who pretty much understands weather in my region. I love to witness a wild storm. But enough is enough. This isn't even remotely amusing anymore.
