THIS JUST IN!!! NY Judge: Carrying a Gun is a Privilege, Need to Prove Why You Need It | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1540295 United States 09/08/2011 10:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Most people have ZERO need to walk around with a concealed handgun. Having one in your home, to defend your family against home invaders is a different story, but it must be a pretty sad existence to feel the need to pack heat whenever one leaves the house. I see you're from Canada. |

Having one in your home, to defend your family against home invaders is a different story, but it must be a pretty sad existence to feel the need to pack heat whenever one leaves the house. Let's talk about two recent incidents: The Giffords shooting and the IHOP thing that happened yesterday. In both cases they interviewed people who were at the scene that had lawfully concealed handguns. In the former case, the guy said he never drew his because he feared that police would show up and shoot HIM in the chaos, and in the latter case the guy said he considered drawing but did not (and subsequently regretted it). So, we have people who were probably stroking their dicks in anticpation of one day being a "Taxi Driver" style vigilante hero, and then when they day came they found out that their precious little gun did them no good at all... No, it's because during our training, they pound into our heads that we're not to clear leather until we're sure we have nothing left to lose...because once we draw, we WILL lose everything in civil court. And that's if we're cleared of criminal wrongdoing. As far as being an armed civilian and shooting someone in defense of another is concerned, it's a very grey area. Even for police, it's a very grey area; the difference is that they have the deep pockets of the taxpayer backing them up in court. Those two permit holders did very well to keep their weapons holstered. There was nothing that could have been done to stop the shooting, anyway...I'm guessing the gunfire only lasted seconds. Sure, there are probably a few "conceal-carry commandos" out there. But the majority of us are just regular people who recognize that any of us a could be a victim of violent crime, and just want to do what we can to get home to our families at night, and to help keep our loved ones safe. 100% spot on We are a REPUBLIC.If we can keep it MORAN! A pissed off American Veteran! |

Real life is not as easily defined as you have suggested. Once you venture from self-defense to defense of other citizens, you encounter uncertainty. In Georgia there was a case of an active shooter who was shooting people with a rifle. He was shot in the chest by a CHL armed citizen. Unfortunately the bad guy was wearing body armor so he managed to shoot the licensed concealed carry citizen with the rifle. 7 Billion people on the planet! That's a BIG number! And I am one. |
