You know....what ever happened to "fight fire with fire when water is gone"?

If that lady was my mother, I and my siblings would return the favor. Call 'em until they get the fucking picture. Look up laws, and quote different parts of it.

Failing that....they would probably have to start looking for new windows for their buildings. Cause there would be very unexpected and very localized brick hail storms raining down on BOA buildings.
I'm just a figment of your imagination ;-)

It worked beautifully every time because i changed my cell phone and home phone that way by complaining to phone companies about advertisement and comercial BS calls during my dinner when I was in MA.

The phone companies do it for FREE. Do you know that you can have your new home phone number every 4 or 5 years if you ask phone company???

Your old phone number will be inactive for nearly 1 year before somebody else can use it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1531747

that is good news.goodnews i changed my number because my ex'es keep calling me. but, i would definitely change it if i were being harrassed by bill collectors.
 Quoting: tinygreen

I know T-MOBILE allow you to have a new number after issuing you a number for 6 months.

Here is another way to deal bill collectors.

When they send you a bill, don't open it. Mail it back with a sentence " this person doesn't live here" or "wrong address' on an envelope.

My friend in CA did it and it worked. He did it 4 times before they stopped sending.

Furthermore, he also didn't pick up the phone when it rang. He answered the phone if he heard your voice on his answering machine.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1531745

that is excellent advise!! i never answer my phone if i don't know the number. ever. i let it go to voicemail. i'm still getting calls for the person who had my number before me. i call the people that call for her and tell them she no long has this number. but i don't pick it up, i call them after.

sending the mail back is very smart. really good advise.
 Quoting: tinygreen

for 2 yrs I haven't answered the phone (unless I know the #) and let message get it. 9 out of 10 times they don't leave a message, and usually its an automated message with a call back number.God, those people a stupid to think I'll call back. I guess they think I'll be more honorable to them than they are to us...( my message is: you've reached ###-####, leave a message, thanks.)

Hahaha, at first I'd answer the phone on occasion and say - You've reached Scared Hearts Convents prayer line, Mother Treasa speaking, may I help you? - LOL, they'd ask for me and I would repeat (what I just said above) and they'd hang up....LOL.....sometimes ya just got to have fun with those idiots.

the banks have stolen from us for yrs and yrs. and if collections are stupid enough now a days to want to buy my debt from the bank (and each other) well, they get what they deserve - a big fat fucking ZERO! They can take me to court all they want. I don't show up to waste my time losing (and I will)...they can't get blood from a turnip or someone who owns nothing.
I like the returning of the mail idea...I just burn it instead. I like the vision of them burning in HELL.

I'll pay my basic living expences before I will ever pay those fuckin crooks another cent!!!!

yep they are awful. i had trouble with them during hurricane ike. we had no power at the bank, they couldn't make my payment and so boa slapped me with 29.9% interest when i had 4.9% before. i had never missed a payment or even been late. i had paid more if i had extra money, but it didn't matter one bit to them.

Re: WTF!!!!Bank of America 'called grieving widow 48 times a day to remind her of husband's debt'
This does not work well in my country. The previous owner of my property never put in for a change of address to all of her creditors. So, everyday I check my mailbox and it is filled with outstanding bills for the previous owner. I got tired of returning the mail, so I started calling each of them to inform them that this person had not "actually lived" at this address for at least 2 years & to stop sending her mail to me. On one particular bill which she had run up to the tune of $1,500 for the Toll Highway & she was still using that highway....I called the Toll company & explained she did not live here and stop sending her bills to my address. They said that by law, they had to keep sending them to me, until she herself phoned them and put in for a change of address. This was like a years worth of bills they had sent my way, & this was how they operate. I was shocked. A few days ago, I got her driving licence renewal forms. I wrote across it....moved....return to sender.I don't understand why the police can't track her down.
 Quoting: ohhappydays

I don't know how Canada Post Offices work. In US, you can fill a change address form or inform your mail man about previous owner, her mails will never be delivered to your house.

You should have ignored and they would stop sending them to you. People will never send you anything when they don't receive anything back from you for a long time.

It requires patience.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1531747

Canada Post will do not give us (the real resident) any choice in this. It is up to the old tenant/owner to notify the post office with a change-of-address form, that we have to pay at least $30 for 6months of having them redirect our mail to our new address. I always do this, when I move, so that my mail will come to my new address. But the old owner of my property never put in for a change of address to the post office. Hence, after 2 years I'm still getting her mail. I have been returning it to the senders and still they continue to send it to me. Fed up with it. Now I just throw it in the garbage.

Bank of America Threatens Foreclosure On Elderly Couple Who Paid Mortgage Early

Late last year, the Florida couple, Sharon Bullington, 70, and her 78-year-old terminally ill husband, were forced, due to mounting health care bills, to apply for mortgage relief under the federal Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP). After receiving approval for the application, Sharon sent in her first check (for January's rent) for the adjusted amount on December 23, 2010.

This, apparently, set off Bank of America's powers-that-be.

Official HAMP guidelines dictate that the Bullingtons should have technically made their first adjusted payment on January 1, 2011, and, "by not making January's payment on January 1st, the Bullingtons had failed to comply with HAMP's terms."

These big companies are so rigid that they can't make any exception. We have AllState Insurance for our cars, home, golf cart, umbrella policy, and so I decided once that I would write them all on one check and send it with all the bill stubs so they could apply them correctly....wrong! Boy did I make a mess of things. They applied all to the car insurance, which then had this huge surplus and the rest were considered past-due. What a pain getting it straightened out.

Sort of related.... Anybody have trouble with medical bills?

We are fortunate to have insurance and to be able to pay our medical bills so far. However, we've had it happen twice, with two separate ER visits, to pay the hospital and other bills and think we were fine. THEN, six months later, we get bills from collection agencies from doctors we do NOT know. We didn't get EOBs. They are for stupid amounts. One was thirteen dollars; one was thirty. Small stuff but thing is we didn't recognize them. I called to ask for an itemized statement; they never did send the darn thing. And I don't want to give my credit card to strangers. They are the most annoying buttholes in the whole world.

Finally just paid to shut them up. I think the docs in question (I guess some tech who outsources for ER) forgot to bill our insurance or something. I hate this crap.

Bill collectors make it a policy now to hound the relatives of the deceased for their bills. All they have to do is trick you into making one payment on it, and the law says you've assumed the debt

[link to www.youtube.com]

Apparently they even skim obituaries and target people that way, too.

perfectly okay. this all ties together.

my parents have both been sick. there have been a mountain of bills. every once in awhile we get one that says overdue or something like that. we then find out, as you have, that it was not covered by insurance or was not part of the hospital or doctor's billing.

we have disputed a number of them. some of them were double billings, once for the hospital and then for the doctor. both for the same amount. double payment is not happening.

they can kiss my ass.

never give your cc# to these people. if you hear from them again, state you want a detailed and itemized list from them.

you have to say, 'detailed and itemized'. i found this out the hard way.
