It's apparently legal to grow for personal consumption in all states. And wouldn't organic, locally grown tobacco make a dandy gift or barter item if/when TSHTF? I'm in the mountains of southern Oregon if there's some variety you know is pariclarly suitable to this area...thanks Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1520258 It's not the growing of tobacco that is the hardship, put an old copper penny under each plant and add enough urine (for nitrogen) and viola...beautiful tobacco. It's getting the cure down correctly. Since you are pretty much his neighbour, write Dr. Richard Allan Miller (say that Lance sent you in your title) @ [link to richardalanmiller.com] He's pretty open to discussing anything about agronomy...And he's pretty much retired so he has ample time...He'll not only know good Oregon varieties, he will probably have the seed. Plant or Perish |

Got both seeds on E-bay. You do, however, have to start the plants indoors about 2 months before transplanting outside at 5-7" height, so time it for the relatively dryest, hottest period. Quoting: Doominator 162364 It's tricky to grow, all my Virginia sets died on the first really bright hot day, I probly set them out way too early. It doesnt smell or look at all of processed tobacco but it does work if you need it for a tobacco addiction. They do deplete the soil pretty quickly |
